How do you feel about birthdays as you get older?

I'm a Halloween baby. In elementary school, my mother once rented a room at a bowling alley and had all my classmates attend in costume. It was a big deal. Now I hate big deals. It's just another day. Hubs and I try to create special occasions throughout the year.

I've taken my birth date off of FB because I don't want to be inundated with people I never see wishing me Happy Birthday and having to go through and Like all of them. I do have a few close friends who reach out personally and it gives me the chance to catch up with them.

So we have a New Years Eve baby and a Halloween baby. My wife's birthday is on 11/25 so very often a Thanksgiving baby and her brother is a Christmas baby. I often took part in doing party with my just younger brother who was born a week before me so on Lincoln's birthday and close to Valentine's Day while mine was on Washington's Birthday back before the much needed President's day holiday.

We never had a birthday party as children, although my mother usually made a chocolate cake for each of our birthdays. I never wanted a 21st birthday party but my parents insisted on it. I was glad when they said I could have friends from work and their boyfriends. There were only 15 people there, but it was a lovely night, and I got some nice presents. My boys now make it special and take me out for a lovely dinner.
