Birthdays and holidays for me are kind of milestones or time markers that break up the years and keep them from being one big blur when I look back on them. They used to be bigger events, though, when we'd have my wife's family over to celebrate. We'd have a big party and get good and hammered. I don't even drink any more, so birthdays are now usually just a nice dinner, cake, and my pick for a movie... pretty boring.
Funny how we keep on plodding along through life. It's like an old car that keeps running with just some minor repairs every once in a while, but one day, it's going to quit running that will be it. My body will be taken to the great junkyard in the sky to rot away. I doubt there will be any parts in good enough shape for anyone to salvage.
