I'm a Halloween baby. In elementary school, my mother once rented a room at a bowling alley and had all my classmates attend in costume. It was a big deal. Now I hate big deals. It's just another day. Hubs and I try to create special occasions throughout the year.
I've taken my birth date off of FB because I don't want to be inundated with people I never see wishing me Happy Birthday and having to go through and Like all of them. I do have a few close friends who reach out personally and it gives me the chance to catch up with them.
To me my birthday is just another day basically. No one celebrates it so I really don't care.My hour glass is bottom heavy enough. Another birthday, another year's accumulation. But I do like the somberness of mortality, it's a nice contrast with the easy joy and frivolity of youth. A cake with the correct number candles would be a fire hazard.
I guess I'd describe my feelings as ambivalent. Let us eat cake.
If you have good relationship with all 3 then why not express that as a birthday wish they can fulfill for you. You won't lose anything & could gain a whole lot. Sometimes all it takes is a mothers love to make it happen.I have a big milestone coming not this year but next. Now that one I am hoping I get to see
all 3 of my son's together for that. If it happens it will mean an old old hatchet has been buried
among 2 of them. I am so hoping more than cake or presents it happens.
I don't mention this to them, it's their choice but it sure would make me happy.
The same with my wife and me.I do like the birthday cards and wishes on my birthday. My husband and I like to celebrate in our own way with a special dinner and dessert. We do not buy presents for our birthdays just make it a nice day.
