How are you today?

babying my left hand and icing it to try to bring the swelling down. waiting to see what the weather will do today. supposed to get storms today and friday. thursday when i get back from the hardware store i gotta call this gal i used to work with. we haven't talked in a while. will likely be another 2 hr discussion. ☺️
i rarely talk to people on the phone. i don't do it much cuz i don't really care for it. but for some people it's worth it.

I missed how the part orange sherbet and part vanilla ice cream were mixed. Thaw slightly, blend and re-freeze?

I haven’t had sherbet in years. Now I’m craving it.
Exactly. In my case, I partly thaw vegan vanilla ice cream and sorbets (which are already dairy free), put a couple of scoops of both in a big bowl, swirl them together, then refreeze.

My digestive system gets very annoyed by cow milk products, thus the vegan ice cream and sorbet.

Yes, I think that's it, especially if you're going to make sandwiches, as I think Star did. We'll probably just moosh and consume, though. Greedy. 🥰
I do both. I've made many thousands of all manner of ice cream sandwiches over the past 40 years, so using dairy free ice cream for them wasn't a stretch.

Problem is, most DF ice creams don't have high quality ice cream's silky texture. DF ice creams heavily based on coconut cream don't float my boat because the coconut flavor often trumps everything else so I use other DF ice creams.

I willingly surrender ice cream's silkiness for the bigger flavor hit the sorbet brings to the mix.

I told my daughter about your ice cream/sherbet combo and she mentioned her friend made a sherbet with 3 items - frozen strawberries, honey and juice of 3 lemons. Put in blender and froze. She had no measurements for me.
Interesting... classic sherbets contain milk or cream. This recipe is more like a sorbet (which is what I use).

I buy a lot of fresh strawberries this time of year; they're at peak ripeness and the great price of 99¢/lb. Slice and freeze in a couple of 2 gallon ziplocks and they're handy throughout the year. (I often add sliced grapes, sliced strawberries, or mixed frozen berries to my morning stir fries. Keeps my sodium intake down if the stir fries are sweet rather than savory.)

It hadn't dawned on me to make sorbet out of these fruits, but the internet agrees with your daughter's friend:
Homemade Sorbet - The Recipe Critic.

Thanks for the tip!

p.s. My daughter's lemon tree is astoundingly prolific, much more so than my own. When this crop ripens (should be soon) I might try my hand at lemon sorbet!

I was Vegan for four years, several years ago and I get it about Vegan ice cream options. I enjoyed some of the coconut variations, but the fat count was daunting. I think, out of soy, almond, rice and coconut ice creams, rice was my go-to because it was so light. My local organic market carries an ice cream treat called a, "Rice Dream Ice Cream Bar." So delicious. Vanilla rice ice cream covered in a thin coating of chocolate and chopped nuts. Man, now I want one.

Agreed, and it's saturated fat. Bad news for the heart and arteries. From a health standpoint, it's similar to butter and palm oil, not to canola or olive oil.

I avoid coconut products other than occasionally dusting something with a bit of shredded coconut.

doing ok this morning. iced my hand several times yesterday. it's not really bringing the swelling down. wish it would. i work this next 3 days. then i'm off on monday.

i am presently stuck on a quest in my palia game. trying to search google for answers as i'm getting frustrated with it. lol!

expecting thunderstorms for sure today. they said maybe tornadoes but idk if that has changed this morning.

Between last October and February, I measured 7 1/2" of rain at our house, but we can have rain until May.
Right now we are in the transition between the lush green winter season and the yellow/brown summer drought.
On my hike this morning, I found that smaller plants are already drying out while trees are still in full bloom.
Wild cacti are just starting to bloom. If we'll get more rain, then the winter green will get a reprieve.

@MarciKS Two fires are burning right now In Los Angeles County and in Riverside County.

The LA Times citation is for the Riverside fire the smoke clouds of which I can see from my window.
California has this year the second lowest snow pack on record.

I'm here. Haven't yet read today's posts, just thought I'd better check in before somebody thinks I'm face down in the garden.

DD and I went to Aldi because she bought me a rain chain thingie that I decided I didn't like as much as another one they had. We did an even exchange. Now I'm happy.

Then, as long as we were already out, (;);)) we cruised on over to the garden center where I relieved my bank account of enough 💸 to get three big pots of lavender sunpatiens.

There were five plants in each pot. I was going to separate them, but decided to plant each of the entire pots. Moved some wallflowers to put in sunpatiens instead.

Now I'm tired and gonna read today's posts while I rest myself.
