Where I was yesterday for tea....

This is an RV park near Palm Springs (in the middle of the desert) that we toured just for fun one day. You can see part of the concrete slab with the shadow of the motor home at the left. These RV sites had a dock on the 2 mile waterway with 6 seat electric boats. It also has an 18 hole golf course and 5 star restaurant. Those small buildings are called Casitas which only have a kitchen, living room and spa bathroom. You have to sleep in your motor home which of course is Class A only. The lot we saw for sale was asking $1.2 million, without the motor home. It's called glamping.

This herd of 18 young elk mostly cows, a few almost yearlings, and a couple of young males w the bulges of antler bases showing.

We watched for a while, but it was at that exact moment I knew that salt block they're all drawn to would be moving to a new location.

After I'd had enough I chased the herd off a few yards and by then they had their fill of salt so they wandered off as they always do knowing they'll be back after dark. The 18 elk had trampled the perennial gardens, and tore some plants out by the roots. My wife was nearly in tears after surveying the damage. The salt block will be moved before dark.

2 collared elk cows, this is the 3rd year of me seeing these 2 together.

A few hand held Pixel 10 Pro photos of people taking photos despite a cool drizzly weather day, from yesterday Sunday afternoon at our San Jose Municipal Rose Garden:

Google AI Overview:

The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden was named “America’s Best Rose Garden” in 2010 by the All-America Rose Selections (AARS) in their first-ever nationwide competition. It beat out over 100 accredited rose gardens to win this title.

Key highlights of the 5.5-acre garden include:

Collection: Over 4,000 rose shrubs, with 189 varieties, of which 75% are hybrid-teas.
Location: Situated at the corner of Naglee and Dana Avenues in the Rose Garden neighborhood.
Peak Bloom: Early May is considered the most impressive time to visit, although the garden blooms from April through November.
Purpose: The garden serves as an official test site for new, unreleased hybrid rose varieties.
Admission: Free to the public daily.

The garden is highly regarded for its, as of 2026, well-maintained, picturesque setting, featuring a central fountain and redwood trees, making it a popular spot for picnics and photography. The site, originally a prune orchard, has been a local landmark since 1937.

Great photos, Holly.
thank you... 🌺 if you've been looking at the beginning of this thread from 11 years ago.. you will see that many of the photos have been ruined by Photobucket.. they used to be free to use to upload our pics, then when started charging...those of us who decided we'd find different free site .. photobucket ruined our pics which had previously been free by stamping their names all over the pics...

Fortunately I still have all those pictures in my collection here in the cloud !(y)
