What have you bought recently?

Yesterday, I bought a set of Bluetooth wireless earbuds because Microsoft Corp (I assume) turned off audio output on my PC, presumably because I can't (and won't) upgrade to Win11.

So, I get the earbuds and they worked great until I tried to recharge them this morning. Turns out the thing you plug into a charging port doesn't fit any of the USB ports or charger blocks I have.

Why the hell do various devices have to require various sized charging ports? Why can't they be universal? I get that they need various voltage levels, but I see no reason why the devices themselves can't have a built-in voltage moderator or regulator or whatever. Surely, that's possible.

Anyway, I irately ordered a multi-port charging station today, and I'm not happy about it.

At least there's no delivery charge, because the stupid thing costs over $40. I mean, that isn't going to break me, but this shouldn't even be a thing, imo.

I bought new pair of dark blue Skechers, $110. plus tax and worth it. They feel great on my feet.
I love my two pairs of Skechers Arch Fit sneakers (solid red and solid navy) but have wanted a pair in black for about six months. Thing is, I wanted something jazzier than another plain pair.

This cute print recently showed up, and all I needed to do was wait for a price drop. So it's been loitering in my Amazon cart for a while. My patience has been rewarded with a price drop from $84 to $59, so I pulled the trigger this morning!

I can't wear Bob's Skechers - bought a pair last year and returned them promptly. I only wear the arch fit because of slightly lingering plantar fasciitis. The arch fit offer far more support.

Bob's do offer better prices and cuter prints though, that's for sure.

I'm the same I initially discovered skechers when I had the worst attack of PF and I literally couldn't stand, the pain was so bad. I had been working long hours walking on concrete floors.. and I needed to find something so I could continue working.

It was sheer chance that I came across Skechers.. after trying so many other things.. and it was like night & day..like walking on cotton wool... and they were cushion soled.. GoGa Mat ... and have been a fan of Skechers ever since..

Regarding Skechers, I recently ordered 3 pairs off Amazon.

Two of which were what I ordered. the third pair were the right box but the completely wrong shoes inside. Wrong style and technically the wrong "extra-wide" size.

Oh, really. OldFeller? And what, pray tell, were these?

Well if you must know...

One pair were not Skechers brand...

Small Mercator carbon steel non-locking folding knife with a copper handle and bail, made in Solingen, Germany

DSC09123.JPG

The package appeared on his porch without announcement. No receipt, no note, though he suspected the brown truck he'd seen earlier as it rumbled down the street, had something to do with it. Contents revealed a small Mercator carbon steel non-locking folding knife with a copper handle and bail, made in Solingen, Germany. It slipped easily into his pocket. Once inside his home, he set it on the table and left the knife there for the remainder of the day.

By morning, it was no longer where he had placed it. Not lost, not hidden. Relocated, sitting parallel to the edge of the table, aligned with a precision he did not remember applying. He picked it up, opened it, and tested the edge against a scrap of paper. It sliced cleanly. Later, he used it to break down a box, then to slice an apple. Each time, he closed it and set it down differently, making a point not to think about it. Each time he returned, it had shifted again, never far, always deliberate.

He tested this more than once, changing the knife's position, then leaving the room. When he returned, it had moved, but the orientation was always the same. The pattern held without exception. He wrote it down once as a reminder, then stopped writing.

The next odd thing happened while making coffee. He set the knife on the counter, turned to retrieve boiling water, and came back to find it slightly closer to the mug than he remembered. Not much closer, just enough to suggest initiative. He ignored it. Later, he found it resting against a stack of unopened mail, as if volunteering for duty. When he left it on the table overnight, it appeared the next morning beside a loose thread on the shirt he had selected to wear. He clipped the thread, set the knife down, paused, and said out loud, “All right.” The knife did not respond, but it stayed where it was, which felt like agreement.

On the third day, he stopped moving it altogether. He left it in the center of the table and went about his routine. When he returned that evening, it remained where it was, unchanged, as if it had settled on its own terms.

He stopped pretending the knife was ordinary. It nudged itself toward boxes that needed opening, hovered near packaging that resisted tearing, and once positioned itself next to a tomato with quiet confidence. He began leaving small tasks undone just to see what it would do. One evening, he placed it in the middle of the table and said, “Anything else?” The knife remained still for a moment, then shifted slowly and pointedly toward him. He glanced down at the left leg of his jeans, already coming apart at the seams. He looked back at the knife and said, “Let’s not get carried away.”

I've been reading a lot of negative reviews about the 'slip-ins''..as opposed to slip-ons.... so I've not tried them

I don't have any slip on Skechers.. all my skechers are lace-up, cushion soles of various models... but I prefer slip-ons these days.. so I buy them from other places ( shoe shops) all with cushion soles, and at a much cheaper price than Skechers

these are some of my Non- skecher trainers...

...and these are lace up trainers I was wearing today..I bought about 5 years ago in TK-Maxx ( yes it's TK here ).. and today was the first time I wore them

I must say I admire your footwear! :D

And thanks for pointing out that there's a difference between slip-ons and slip-ins.

I do prefer the feel of the Kizik Slip-on. Of course they're more expensive.

I was in the mood for a shoe experience. So I bought 3 pairs just because I had never done that before.

My bucket list is so far completed.

I love candles. especially Vanilla scented ones.
I just got one with my food delivery this afternoon. I ordered two.
Only got one because I probably bought all they had...😆
