Well, you can see from my profile picture what I used to look like, but that was when I was 23. Now I'm 75, and look nothing like that at all!
Whereas back then I had a full head of hair, and a beard and moustache, now I'm clean shaven, and only have short white hair on the back and sides of my head. I also wear glasses all of the time, due to being long-sighted, but with astigmatism.
I still have most of my teeth, but with some added caps, veneers, and in one lower back tooth, a gold filling!
I was 5'6"/5'7" at one time, but riding a motorbike for a living for 10 years shortened that a little. I'm now about 5'5" at most, but have put on weight over time. For most of my adult life I weighed around 11 1/2 stone (160lb), but since my 60's I've had a chronic condition called PMR (PolyMyalgia Rheumatica). It's an autoimmune disease that attacks the small blood vessels that feed the major muscle groups.
So I get pain in my neck/shoulders, spine, and pelvic girdle if I try to do anything physical for any length of time. To overcome this I take Prednisolone tablets every day, but they have caused me to put on weight, and over the last 18 months or so I've ballooned up to just over 14 stone (196lb), and I really feel it in my back and leg muscles.
I'm not a very extroverted person, and have struggled with shyness for most of my life, but now just keep away from people as much as possible, so I don't notice it much nowadays. I'm married to my long suffering wife who I've known for 45 years and been married to for 42 of them. We have three adult children, but so far none of them have sprogged, so we have no grandchildren.
Other things of note; I'm left-handed, left-eyed, left-footed, and dyslexic, and I used to play guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, and a left-handed fiddle. However, I'm now going deaf and can't enjoy music like I once did, so tend to live in silence now (apart from tinnitus) and my instruments are gathering dust.
My main hobby now, apart from sitting in the chair and doing nothing, is flying my microlight aircraft. In the US you have Ultralights, and Experimental aircraft. Microlights in the UK are similar to both categories. I currently have an all wooden Minimax (American design) and a Rans S4 (Also an American design), and I also have a Microflight Spectrum (UK designed and built) that I occasionally fly, when it's not being a bird's nest for the small bird population in the area. Hopefully I'll be able to continue to fly my planes for a few years yet, but at the moment I'm suffering from lack of energy, and a lot of back pain, so I'm not getting up to the airfield as much as I'd like.
