Weird Dream, ideas/interpretations welcome

Last night I had a dream that I was dating Robert Mitchum, and we were at some, sort of carnival act. Then later, we went to another scene in Africa, where we were walking down a dirt road, and here come a Hippo, charging right for us.

I think Mitchum took off, and I was standing there face to charging face of Hippo. I gave it up, and just faced him thinking, oh well, nothing I can do. I died, but came back as a spirit, and visited Mitchum. I wasn't even mad at him, and he was crying. I told him I was doing fine, it wasn't awful to die and I was with God.

My cousin Linda asked me what I ate before bed. I called her this a.m. lol;) I told her popcorn and 7up, then gram crackers and milk.

My analysis: sounds more like a spaghetti or Mexican food dream to me.

Oh, you thought I'd tell you what it all means? It means no more popcorn and 7up chased with graham crackers and milk before bed:)

LOL, I should try some different foods and see what else I can come up with for a dream. Maybe I'll hit on what I would REALLY like to dream about, LOL!!

Yes, but I don't want a head-scratcher Nancy, I want a romantic one with, lets see?? Ok, someone I've never seen or met, yet, lol;)

Well what you do is watch a movie with your romantic idol in it, while you're eating that cottage cheese. That has happened to me a few times, even without cottage cheese. Did you watch a Robert Mitchum movie that day?

No, hadn't seen him in a movie for ages, LOL! So cottage cheese hey? I guess I could try it, but I think someone I don't know, and that isn't famous, lol;)

Well yes, what you ate could have caused you to dream, but what you ate didn't create the content of your dream. That came from somewhere else. How current are you with your doctor visits? I am just wondering because of the Hippo in your dream. It is something big and overpowering that you are dealing with. I'm no expert on dreams, it's just that I know they can be important. What puzzles me is that many of us try to trivialize them when they occur. Is that out of fear? Probably out of fear of looking silly. The content of a dream may be a bit ridiculous, but its meaning may not be.

Yes, I agree with that. Maybe we will figure out how to do this if we all put our heads together. :)

Denise, I've found that doing a few psychedelic mushrooms before bed usually helps you have some interesting dreams. :devilish:
But do stay away from the brown acid after 5pm.

Me want those doggies!

Phil you never cease to come through for me this sounds like the best idea so far I don't know for sure if I can find the right kind of mushrooms but I will give it a go I hope I don't just get a bunch of psychedelic pictures in my dream no I'd rather see some real men I'd love to hear your experience and what you feel after eating mushrooms before bed that should have said what you seen after eating mushrooms

Wait I had a minute to think about it and I'm kind of scared to know what you seen laugh out loud

Heh, heh ... if you can't find a local source for psychedelic mushrooms just buy a few trays of whatever kind they have at the grocery store, then follow that up with a fifth of vodka.

I guarantee if you don't dream, at least you'll get a good night's sleep. ;)

I don't think you want the kind of dreams you get with mushrooms - they tend not to be very romantic - more like terrifying. :(

Although I DID have one where I was getting married to Phyllis Diller - both romantic AND terrifying.

Oh, definitely! Like Denise I once wanted to dream about a date with a beautiful lady I'd never met before. I did some brown acid after 5pm and dreamed I was sinking on the Queen Mary.

Wow, man, they're, like, mirroring each others SOULS, man!

Damned acid ... :(

Yeah far out and solid!! I'm seeing something now, could be just a flashback though. Never could wait til bedtime.

LOL! I had that one too only the "female" version. I was getting married to Marty Allen!!

Hmm, now you have me curious Dennis, care to elaborate??
We are aware of things at different levels. A dear friend of mine passed away last year – lung cancer. On the surface, she was fighting away gallantly, expecting to win and continue to live, but at a deeper level, she knew. It was apparent from the things that she did. There are even deeper levels of “knowing”. For instance, my body knows how to fly small aircraft – learned reflexes. I don't fly a plane intellectually, I just have a feel for it. There is a lot of what our bodies are aware of that we may not be conscious of on the surface. I don't know how deep our awareness goes, but it is certainly a good deal more that what we know on the surface.

So very well stated, Dennis.

I've preached the same thing about martial arts training - that at a certain level the body takes over before the mind can even grasp what is going on.

The big problem is that, as you stated, they are learned reflexes - it takes time.
