Miami Doctor Goes Beserko On Uber Driver

A Miami doctor seen in a post video going off on a Uber driver including throwing things regrets her behavior. Said she and her family are being harassed and has been put on leave by her employer.

She also lucked out with that Uber driver not pressing charges against her.

I was surprised to see it was a doctor because when video first surfaced it was women goes off on Uber driver.

Um, I don't know if I would want to be her patient after one of her nights out. This goes beyond buzzed.

Eh, she's human - her Dad in the hospital and breaking up with her boyfriend. Coupled with the stressors of a residency program and a snootful of alcohol I understand how that would be enough to make anyone go a little bonkers.

She seems contrite enough, she made up with the Uber driver. No criminal charges. Her professional and personal lives are now hell. The REAL crime is the monsters who say she should be raped or kill herself, and are stalking her family.

I'm not totally convinced that those events in her life were the total driver behind that behavior. Most, not all people under stress don't go off on strangers or even friends & family in that manner. That's a child's temper tantrum. She might not be a daily alcoholic but some experts say binge drinking is just as dangerous. I think there are other issues here. Could be her true personality or how she feels deep down ie looks at many with contempt. It will be interesting if someone follows up on this story 6 months to a year from now and see where she's at.

I was ready to be open minded as I watched the ABC news report, but, by the end with how she seemed passe about the behavior over all as if, well, whatever, I apologized, so get over it, I do think she may have an entitlement mentality beneath the layers. It was just something she said at the end of the interview I watched on nightline up to that point, I was willing to say, yeah, I get it, I understand, but, seems she really doesn't feel as apologetic as the words she first managed to say to keep her position.

I would have to see that segment to get more info. I was only going by the original posted article, and certainly printed words can be misleading.

Some saw the interview and didn't pick up the nuances, so, that might not help, but, it was very clear for me. I'll see if I can find the interview and post it for you and others to make up their own minds.

Can't call in the BAU for a plain old narcissist. It has to be a malignant narcissist.

Can we just let her alone for a while in a dark place and see if she grows?

Take a boo at wall street. All the malignant narcissists one would need for a profile.

Ah, ah, ah ... improper profiling of a population ... :playful:

This isn't the interview I saw, but, still, by the end, its, be careful because you don't know who's watching. I don't know, maybe I'm being too hard on her, but, I don't think so.

Thank you - I'll watch it and see what I think.

The original tirade or tantrum tells me all I need to know. Then her father goes into the hospital but she goes out on the town/on a binge in short shorts like a college girl. In the ABC interview her sister is the one upset crying while she's smiling as she over apologizes making sure to include all the politically correct words and admissions in her statements ie telling the world what she thinks they want to hear.

I'm inclined to agree with you, though, I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but, yes, she now has to temper what she says in news interviews, she's sober and realizes the world is watching, though, I'm still not convinced of her sincerity.

two faced

Remember the man who attacked Uber driver and was fired from his executive position at Taco Bell? He's suing the Uber driver!

Funny how so called professional people are the ones showing and taking out their anger on others. Both that executive and this doctor are from professions that should require or promote a calmer more level headed personality. Maybe that aggression got them to where they are. But again I never thought of engaging a stranger in combat over a customer service issue. If these people are that quick to use violence or show that much aggression in public they have issues as far as I am concerned.

This also shows the flaws in the hiring or promotion process if people like this slip by. I guess they were smart enough to feed people what they wanted to hear ie ran a con on their superiors to get where they are today.

For sure. I once worked in a law firm where a very successful "buttoned down" attorney had temper tantrums and threw objects across the room when his secy made a mistake. Files, pens, a stapler, whatever. When she went on maternity leave they brought in a temp and the first time he pulled that crap she called her agency and terminated the assignment. Bet he was a real joy to live with.

I got backed into by a doctor in the parking lot at the hospital I worked at. When we got out of our cars, the first thing she asked me was "Are you a doctor?". When I said no, she said "Well, I am."

I was on the verge of asking what the hell difference it made who was what, when the security guard came racing around the corner, having seen it all, thank goodness.

I've seen a lot of throwers mostly local supervisors in large national companies. Their careers never advanced whining about how it's unfair to ask for degrees, certifications or licenses to advance farther up the corporate ladder. But their short temper coincides with the lack of patience to take those courses that would lead to something over time like night school for a couple of years-uh oh.

I wouldn't hold the short-shorts against her. Or, I would, but not in a negative way ...

Watched both videos. The ABC interview was pretty much the same as her written account, I thought - all apologies.

But watching the longer video on the scene itself? She was just nasty and out of control, and I think there were several times where she could have been charged, especially kicking the responding officers.

Now, somehow it seems that her apology isn't enough.

As in any profession I think many go into it for the wrong reasons. If one wants status become an executive or captain of industry. If one wants to help people become a doctor. If that 'doctor' has to state that he is a doctor sounds like he has a Napoleon complex or something

That being said in the medical or legal professions especially there is so much information to remember that those with excellent memories can get by without more sincere motives. They don't have to want it as much. That memory allows a lot of people to get into jobs or through schools they have no business being in. But got a good memory, attitude and suffer from insecurities you can still do what ever you want.

I wouldn't want to be her patient. There is no excuse for her behavior imo. She needs to look at herself and be truly sorry and seek some counseling with her anger, drinking, whatever issues. I think the media should leave her alone...but if I were the judge I'd give her community service and anger management...but part of her punishment is already happening..being judged by everyone and hounded by the media.

If that video isn't a good reason not to drink I don't know what is. It's sad really what she's done to herself career-wise. I was just reading the other day about employers googling and checking FaceBook to rate potential employees. That was in the news, that's even worse than rowdy FB pictures. I'm sure the publicity will come back to bite her for years to come. Let's hope she's learned a lesson.

Yep, I wouldn't blame the profession, I've had up close and personal relationships with people of most every profession and jerks aren't limited to any one, there are as many good doctors in the profession as there are those who move to FL when no other state will hire them. :D
