Remember the Midnight Special?

I was thinking back and have fond memories of Burt Sugarman's The Midnight Special. For me it was the forbidden fruit of late night TV, that I would sneak to watch. The sheer caliber of talent that appeared on the show, could never be duplicated today. All bands regardless of their status at the time, performed live and on T.V. Most likely for a straight fee.
That would never happen today, save for the odd awards show and oft times they are singing to their dubbed songs. Of course the hosts alone of the show would cost a small fortune. The comics some of the best of all time. Anyways I thought why not post a few of your favorite memories from the show. Or tell your story of why etc.. Took me a while to pick a favorite they are all so good. Bright Blessings

I picked Peter Frampton this time.
 

Ol Pete looks like he's fifteen;) Of course the Midnight Special!!! Helen Reddy and Wolfman Jack...You know "I Am Woman" was actually a good song. Gives me goose bumps now thinking about it. I remember putting a cassette recorder against the TV to make tapes of the shows. Mahn I feel old...<<<deep inhale>>> Here pass it around...

I used to have hair like that *sigh*

Amazing performance - Frampton and his crew always put so much life into their stuff. And I think he was the first to use the Vocorder - the weird talk/guitar effect.

I miss those days, when talent was king.

Ponytails yes, long hair yes, ponytail with a bald head not so much, "man buns" are utterly ridiculous.
Wait some people might get the wrong idea there;)

Depends on the man bun. I have seen some that toasted my toes nicely. I love long loose hair on a man also. There is a guy in town with hip length thick shiny silver silky hair, and bright blue eyes, neatly trimmed matching moustache. He is tall. Sigh.
 
So I have been feeling rather nostalgic of late. I know you are suppose to look to the future and the present. However, I long for the days past, when I was young and naive. But so full of potential untapped. I chose a path I thought was what I wanted. This song reminds me of the time.. For in four short years the path I took was the one I should not have. Hard for me to admit, but I feel I need to. Yes, it gave me my greatest accomplishment my two children, to which I would never change. But it came at an unimaginable cost to my inner self. Anyways wanted to share how much the Midnight Special invokes such thoughts in me.. Bright Blessings..
