I never agree with Osborne. Yet the government - the NHS - has stretched its budgets to have to pay for self-induced illnesses that come from obesity (smoking, alcohol).
I doubt this will help much though. There would have to be a massive tax placed on sugary foods to keep people from buying them. And it isn't just sugar making people obese. Take a trip to a chippy.
I probably shouldn't say anything since I'm an American, but I'm sort of recalling what an English friend said to me once ...
I can see a government taxing sugar and other unhealthy food ingredients if it's paying for the health care of its citizens.
