have you change your mind about buying stuff online?

I’m in hospital so ( I had surgery on Friday ) so I’ve not felt like doing all that stuff like contacting eBay or pay pal ..I did contact the seller who said they would replace the curtains when I send the incorrect ones back ...I expect to be released today hopefully ...then travel, home two hours from the city ..so I will be contacting eBay ASAP when I get home

I've been shopping online for years and do 90% of our shopping online for everything, except groceries Dh likes this chore, he goes twice a week. I have been getting the best most awesome deals online and almost always Free shipping and often no tax. (I love it)

Kadee, I hope you're recovering well and you feel better soon.

I use PayPal when I'm not sure about a merchant or I'm not convinced their security is up to snuff. I've only had one dispute that involved PayPal; they stepped in and resolved the issue quickly.

Kadee, just contact payapal, and get your money returned..quick easy...and don't forget to leave a bad review for the seller...

I sold on Ebay for over 10 years...wouldn't do it now... too many unscrupulous buyers these days..and postage is also sky high too..

I’ve done it ....thanks Holly and Jane ...I clicked on Item not as described ..and I got my money back just, like that in a instant from pay pal ..and I don’t have to return the items..... :woohoo1:that was so easy ....Concidering I don’t have to return the faulty curtains I will give them to a charity opp shop when I’m up,to it ...If I get Home tomorrow I will take a photo and post it so you can see what rubbish they are for almost $50

Jane I always pay for any online purchases if the seller has the pay pal option...... not only eBay ...
I recently sold a fermenting crock on eBay ( I used it once to make sauerkraut ) anyway eBay took almost a 1/4 of the money I got for it so by the time I paid the postage ( they take a percentage of the postage cost as well )I might as well have given it to a charity shop ( opp shop )

At age 87 I also buy online, mostly books, but I have recently bought table lamps. sheets, a leather
purse, I do my research, compare prices. Haven't bought any clothing yet, but maybe one day.
It is so much easier for me than wandering around the malls.
Next month I will buy gifts certificates online, great way to avoid crowds at the malls.

Good for you ... :thumbsup1:

I changed my mind years ago about online shopping. I went from never doing it to always doing it. The only thing I don't purchase online is food. I purchase clothes, shoes, electronics, computer items, craft supplies, etc. It is really easy to shop for shoes online when I use one of the stores that offer return shipping charges free. I get my shoes, try them on and if they don't fit, I print the return label out, order the new size and then when the UPS driver delivers the new pair, I hand him the return package. I can't ask for it to be any easier than this. I purchase other items from Amazon, Ebay, Pennys, Kohl's, and the list goes on. I also use PayPal with the stores that will let me. I would rather use them than to be sharing my credit card number all over the internet.

I've been ordering online for quit a few years now. I do almost all of my ordering on line including groceries. In all the years I have been doing it I have never had a problem. With my back and knee problems and my husband has the same problem this is a wonderful way for us not having to walk all over a store to get what we want. I absolutely love Amazon.

Here’s the photo of the curtains I ordered ( white ones ) and the curtains I received as I mentioned in a previous post on this thread ....
But thanks to Holly and Jane I got my money back in a instant by clicking on one button ...I Bought them off eBay but used pay pal to,pay so they gave me back my money

WOW Kadee, those are awful!!!! I wouldn't want those if they were given to me! I'm glad you got your money back because you deserve it! It looks like someone was trying to get rid of something that wouldn't sell and I can see why they wouldn't. I would certainly give that seller a bad review!

Those curtains are ugly, Kadee. No wonder you were upset.

I'm glad you got a quick and simple refund.

AprilSun, I buy a lot of groceries online. I'm relying on buses right now so I'm buying anything heavy online, but I normally buy things I have trouble finding in the stores -- like loose tea, the kind of ghee I like and organic shredded wheat cereal. Last month I bought organic lemons online because it's not easy to get to the organic grocers via bus.

Thank you Jane for your comment about buying groceries online. I have thought about it but I'm still "on the fence" as they say. It's good to hear that it is working for others.

I've been selling items, mostly books, over Amazon for years. It's very easy, especially since I have a post office very nearby. Even if I only make $1 or so on a book, I like to know it's going to someone who really wants that book, as opposed to donating it somewhere and having it end up in a landfill.

I also like the company called Shutterfly. Every year, I make a family calendar, using a variety of digital pictures of all of us from that year, and give it to everyone as a Xmas gift. I always keep one for myself, of course.

I've been thinking about this myself. So you buy things like flour, etc., online? Do the groceries come in a great big box that is heavy to get off your porch (I have bad shoulders and back, so can't lift anything really heavy). You mentioned lemons -- does produce like that come through shipping OK? How do you think prices compare with shopping in person? I shop at Sprouts for my produce -- they have a wonderful selection of the best produce in town, and it's cheaper than Wal-Mart produce, which is awful.

I order supplements online, and have found I can beat local prices substantially by doing that.

Butterfly, I put a square table next to my front door and my mailman and other shippers know to deliver my packages there. I open the boxes and easily carry individual items into the house. I flatten the boxes and put them in the recycling bin without ever carrying them inside.

I buy King Arthur Organic Flour, all-purpose, white whole wheat and bread flour, at Amazon. The only place in town I've found KAF organic (and only all-purpose) is Keller's and they want too much for it there. If I order directly from KAF, they charge a whopping shipping charge from Vermont. So Amazon it is. I have Prime so no extra shipping and KAF flour is part of their Prime Pantry program. Amazon also carries a great selection of Bob's Red Mill products and I buy lots of that brand. I buy most of my meat from Keller's.

I recently bought a dozen organic lemons through Amazon. They were packed amazingly well and were very cold when I got them. They were gorgeous, fresh, juicy lemons. If you don't care about organic produce, Amazon also sells non-organic produce. After my experience with the lemons, I won't hesitate to buy that way. I paid a premium for shipping, but the only place I find organic lemons is Natural Grocer and I could not get there at the time (injured toe and limited walking). The lemons at Natural Grocer cost more, but without the shipping charges.

I won't shop at Sprout's because they do things like spray-paint their eggs brown, something I discovered when I hard-boiled some and voila they were suddenly white. I don't trust Sprouts as far as I can throw them and I know a lot more about them than I'm saying here.

I buy some produce at the little Walmart neighborhood store at Menaul and Juan Tabo because it's close to home, easy walking distance. I've bought some really nice organic lemons there and they nearly always have organic potatoes and apples. (I don't buy everything organic, only those things on the Dirty Dozen list except that I also don't eat non-organic root crops. I buy KAF's organic flour because it produces superior baked goods, much better than conventional flour.) I like Natural Grocers and Smith's, but Smith's selection is more limited. Between Albertson's and Smith's I had delicious organic berries all summer.

I buy quite a few things online from Walmart and Target. They're both trying hard to get a toehold in the online market. Walmart hasn't figured out how to package things as well as Amazon but so far nothing has been broken. Walmart and Target both have a much better selection online than in their stores. Shipping is free if you buy more than $35. Walmart is selling via other retailers like Amazon does, using the same model. I bought an Oster microwave at Target recently that was the model I wanted for a much lower price than anywhere else. They have great specials on appliances. I comparison shop between the online stores and local stores, excluding heavy things which I gratefully let them ship to me. Generally I've found the online prices to be better, with a few exceptions. I think the local retailers are feeling the pinch because they seem to be lowering their prices and having sales on the things people actually buy, for a change.

Thanks, Jane; I believe I will try it for some things and see how it works out for me. I buy so many other things online, but I've never tried food except some particular tea I like.

Thanks for the input. :)
