Lainie was in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". She is 77 and has been in quite a few movie/TV roles and also on Broadway.

I hear that Gelson's is an expensive store. She (allegedly) took $180 worth of groceries, walked out, was stopped by a store employee and the police were called. On another site a few people were saying it's probably dementia. Wellllllllll, they don't know that. She says she didn't have money to pay for the items. She got caught. Embarrassing to say the least.

There are food pantries and social services organizations that help people who need food.

Well,....if it is dementia ?...indeed sad for the obvious reason. If it is stealing ?...it's damn sad that being as successful as she was & she's broke!? That's ridiculous , prosecute her.

If she couldn't save , didn't plan ahead & blew it all....I do not feel the least bit sad for her.

hmmm

Gelson's employees told us they saw a pattern with Kazan -- she would fill up her basket and pretend to walk toward the checkout line, but would then make a quick exit out the door as another group of customers was leaving. We're told security footage backs this up.

Workers were ready for her the last time she came in, and notified the folks in loss prevention ... who were waiting to bust her at the exit. We're told they waited for Kazan to get outside before nabbing her.

the underlying cause may never be known - or at least to but a few? - her meetings with the committee will be interesting!

I agree with you Shalimar - we don't know what has gone on in her life to cause this to occur. She is 77! As a senior I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Some people hit hard times through no fault of there own.

There was a woman up the road from us who was caught doing this frequently. Came from a very well known (locally) family with plenty of money. Her son and DIL are very nice people but known to be extremely frugal. And yes,she was in the early stages of dementia. I always wondered if they maybe didn`t give her enough money to take care of her needs. Or if she was nervous about maybe not having enough. Who knows. She passed a couple of years ago.
