Natalie Wood death case being examined again

Nearly four decades after the unexplained drowning death of Hollywood star Natalie Wood, Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators tell "48 Hours" that her then-husband, actor Robert Wagner, is now a person of interest. Investigators want to speak with Wagner about the circumstances surrounding her death one night in 1981, they say in interviews for "Natalie Wood: Death in Dark Water" to be broadcast Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.​

I have always thought there was more to this and it was not an accident. Just felt like he had something to do with her death. Loved her acting.
 

I always thought there was something funny about her death, it's too bad that it takes four decades for them to just decide that Wagner may be a person of interest...makes you wonder. :confused:
 
Yes, that was so suspicious. And Jill St. John was on board at the time and Robert Wagner later married her. What takes so long? IMO - it's all the scandals rocking Hollywood right now with women speaking out against injustice.
 
At the time, the explanation seemed fairly plausible. Then I read that someone who was very close to her – can't remember who it was right now – said Wood was terrified of deep water and she never would have gone off alone in a small boat, especially at night.
 
I just think this is very strange,after all this time,the authorities now think Robert is a 'person of interest'. They should also question actor,Christopher Walken who was Natalie's co-star in her last movie,'Brainstorm' '83. He was on the boat with the couple on that fateful night Sue
 
It's probable that Robert Wagner has always been a person of interest to the authorities in this case, but there wasn't much they could do when the people on that boat all lawyered up and refused to talk. I wonder if they've discovered new evidence and what it could possibly be.
 
I don't recall reading that Jill St. John was on the boat at the time but I'll agree that the incident has always smelled a little fishy to me also.

chic, I know Robert married Jill several months after Natalie's death, but where did you get the information that Jill was on the boat when Natalie died? I never heard that, and just checked and can't find anything about that. There were 4 people on the boat - Robert, Natalie, Christopher Walken, & also Dennis the captain. Where did the information about Jill come up?
 
Christopher Walken was considered suspicious back in the day. Have they let go of that theory? Natalie Wood was afraid of the water, couldn't swim, and had said that she thought she would die in a drowning. That's quite a coincidence but nothing much was made of it. I don't think it played any part either.

I seem to recall there was a pretty loud row that went on for some time. That's why she supposedly left, to get away from the fight. IIRC there was some serious drinking involved.

Could be whatever happened to her was not deliberate or intentional but the result of drunken stupidity.

I was going to mention that. Didn't Walken party with John Belushi as well? Personally I think there was some serious cocaine on that boat that night. Maybe not Wood but Wagner and Walker. Perhaps the captain was smuggling at the time. The cover up probably resulted from an 'accidental' death but with Walken and Wagner still with prosperous careers and possibly their agents, lawyers etc they probably buttoned up especially after the first couple of days.
 
I have blamed Wagner all along, but after only three decades....be patient,... the police will likely come to that same conclusion , and wrap up the case about 48 hours after his death..........

I tend to agree, Wagner will be 88 in a few days and this will probably drag on until his death.

And/or enough drugs on the boat for distribution/criminal charges. Even if they death was declared accidental those on board probably wouldn't have survived a drug scandal. I say cocaine because it was popular drug for those that could afford it. Celebrities can afford it.
 
I do remember this investigation being re-opened in 2012, and then I don't remember reading anything else about it. I don't know how they going to prove anything. I'm going to try to watch that 48 Hours program about it tomorrow. I remember her dark eyeliner and it looked good on her. I was really upset about her death, especially since it involved drowning, one of the ways I'd hate to go. Very scary.

That has always been my opinion. But I agree that the 3 others onboard probably knew what happened and colluded to keep the silence.

Yes, drowning or trapped in a fire - both would be terrifying.

According to all I have read or watched, it was only those 4 on the boat that night.

I agree, and barring someone coming up with a videotape of somebody pushing her into the ocean, I think it would be practically impossible to convict him of anything. Reasonable doubt, and all that. And after all, having a big fight does not in any way prove anyone killed her.
