Polygamy in America

I've read a few hair raising books written by women who were married of in their teens into polygamous marriages. This is still common among Mormons living in Utah. Both women eventually escaped and married others; not without much ordeal, travail and sorrow. It's heartbreaking. Personally, I feel it should be outlawed. Just IMHO.

There's actually been an undercover documentary filming these women escaping to 'safe houses' Chic...

Just to be clear, all the Sister Wives were all over the age of consent and older. Would I be part of a plural marriage? To be honest, it would depend.

Yes they were, and also they married a man the same age as themselves ...and not some old letch .... . For me I couldn't cope with being a 'sister wife'.... as one of the wives said , when you live in a Monogamous marriage you know your partner 100 percent , what he's thinking etc.. ( well for the most part)...with polygamist marriages he has to keep ( in the case of the Browns)...3/4's of his thoughts and feelings a secret from you, because he can't discuss with any of the wives his relationships. his up or his downs, or his worries or concerns about any of the other 3 wives .

Has anyone ever read the story about Warren Jeffs? Keep in mind, most of his followers believed that he was a righteous man.

Exactly Olivia...but for the life of me I can't understand why he stayed with Merri...she was vile to Janelle for the first few years so much so Janelle moved out with her children for a couple of years and lived a long way away. ..also Merri always plays the poor me card all the time even to this day.
I do feel sometimes that Christine gets a raw deal from him when she doesn't seem to deserve it..but my favourite is Janelle, and also her kids seem to be the most well adjusted out of a whole family of well adjusted kids. Gotta agree with you about Cody's hair...*ugh*... but I think he's trying to hold onto his youth. That said I suspect the women find him attractive because he's very supporting of them all..and not abusive, as well as initially good looking. I suspect many polygamist men are quite abusive..at least that's what I've read and come to understand . The Brown family also support an organisation for runaway wives from abusive polygamist families..

All that said...with 18 children in the brown family, and 23 in the Brady bunch..and then with them all reproducing now... soon they're going to have to build a town where every one of them is related, and that will lead to a few problems.. lol

Meri should never have been in a plural marriage (if anyone should be) in the first place. I think she comes from a polygamous family and Cody wanted it and Meri agreed. That woman is a self-absorbed emotional mess and I believe can't handle the sharing. She and Janelle are back in therapy. Janelle can't even handle being in the same car with Meri and Meri can't even get along with her only child.

I like Christine the best.

Isn't this fun? :playful:

Christine is my second favourite, she's just fun and happy most of the time... ..and yes I know, one child and Merri can't even get along with HER..much less her other sister wives. I just can't take to Robin, all the wives say she's the mediator and the peacemaker, but there's just something about her I don't trust!!

I never watched those shows and I don't care what other people do but I wouldn't want to share my man with another woman or women
