I have to tie up my garbage bags Three times before I throw them out. With a pony tail holder, I Have to wind it Three times around my pony tail. How about you, what are you compulsive about?

I hate to was dirty dishes (glasses, silverware, pots & pans etc.) so I run the hot water and take a brush to everything... even if it looks clean. I stack the pre-scrubbed items off to the side, then wash everything in a normal way with a soapy cloth.

My husband tells me I should just use the dishwasher, but I find my ritual very relaxing for some reason. :chores:

I am very fussy as far as dish cloths and tea towels are concerned , they have to be clean.
I have a friend who uses the dirtiest dish cloth, her cat sits on the bench then she makes sandwiches where it's bottom has been, makes me sick.
I haven't got a dishwasher, mine moved out of home.

Jillaroo, is your friend always sick with tummy bugs or is she as healthy as most people?
People lived in close contact with their animals for thousands of years before we became so squeamish about germs.

I know that cats, dogs and parrots can make people sick but I'm still not worried about contact with them.
I would like to be rid of my unwanted house mouse though.

I have a particular obsession which developed in the last five years. I know it is silly but hard to break. Whilst I wouldn't exactly class it as an obsession, I do like to stick to my daily routines if possible as I am more comfortable that way.

I'm compulsive re checking to be sure I closed and latched a gate so that animals do not get out. Check the doors to be sure they are locked, etc. Some of that tho may well be due to my failing memory. Did I lock that gate or not???

She gets a lot of colds but not sure about tummy bugs, i don't mind being in contact with animals but i draw the line when people don't wipe the bench before preparing food after cats have been sitting on it.
As far as the mouse maybe put one of the traps near the pantry away from where it runs, hopefully you catch the little bugger tonight, put it out there say to yourself that you are catching the mouse tonight, repeat a few times lol

I am obsessive about making my bed every morning when I get up. I have tried not to do it, but it will drive me crazy and I have to go do it.

My obsession? crazy I know but my car is mine, its my toy and nobody else can drive it..EVER

My desktop computer is another one.

I wash mine by hand, even if I have a dishwasher. It is therapeutic I think, but I am only washing for "one" LOL:) If I had a family I may opt for the dishwasher;)

I also check and recheck to be sure that the doors, gates and windows are locked, especially if we'll be gone for more than a day. Double check also to see that the stove is off too.

What's wrong with attention to detail?

My dad, a career Naval Aviator combat veteran would often check and recheck everything; the faucets, the stove, the doors, the windows. My mom and sisters would make fun of him. I didn't understand what he was doing until after Vietnam. The mind does what it can to compensate stress.

The idea of washing one's hands often to avoid disease is something I've tried to adhere to but wonder where the fine line is crossed when it becomes obsessive.

I think otherwise. Many obsessed people don't realize it. I know I'm not with the hand washing but find it curious. How about that Monk character? Now's there's obsession.

I think I'm more a creature of habit than obsessive......and I'm sticking to that story......:playful:
I always make the bed as soon as we get up and I can't stand dishes in the sink.....
No dishwasher for me, never had one, don't need one....:why:

I guess you'd say I have a regular routine around the house.....is that OCD???

True, Casper. Some things are just harmless habits. I believe we can be obsessed with something or compulsive with something but only when it becomes detrimental to our well being is it a problem. We are fallible little humans after all.

I never make my bed. And, that is weird since I was in the military, and had to make my bed in a certain manner each day. When I said OCD, I was not referring to the psychiatric term, just asking people what do they do obsessively. I have this Thing about the number 3, crazy I know but I have it and don't know why.

I'm the same about checking & rechecking things locked up & turned off when going away overnight, & somewhat less so when go out for the day or to work. Back in my full time work days, more than once I got half way there & turned around & raced home because I couldn't remember if I unplugged the curling iron or not. And all those times it WAS OFF, LOL. In general, I like to keep things neat & am really fussy about not using any food products I think might be the least bit "off" in any way.

I ALWAYS carry my keys in my left-hand pocket and ALWAYS set them on top of the dresser in my bedroom with my wallet (always in the right-hand pocket) when I get home. If I'm sleeping elsewhere at night, they go in my shoes.
