What was your mums' first name, and did she use that as her given name or something else?

My mums' name was Elizabeth, but she was always known as Betty never Elizabeth , and she really hated it if anyone called her Liz or Lizzy

I had an aunt also called Elizabeth and she was always known as Aunt Bessie...

My grandmothers' name was Margaret, but she was always called Meg, or sometimes Maggie...

Did she prefer Sally, Janice, or is it something that she was just called all her life?

My mom`s name was Barbara. Everyone called her Barbara, although I did hear her co-workers call her Barb on occasion. My dad called her Bobbie though.

To family my father was "Avery" which was his middle name. At work he was "Tom". There were other Toms in the family so it could be confusing.
If he got a phone call we knew immediately if it was work or family.

My mom's name was "Eugenia" . Jean for short. She's the only one I knew with that name !
My mother in law was named "Genevieve" - Jean for short. Cool coincidence !

My mother was Sadie. A fashionable name back in 1901, when she was born, and it's come back into fashion again. It always seems strange to me to hear of little kids named Sadie.

My mom was Mary, but was always called 'Dolly',don't know where the nickname came from.My dad was John, when mom got mad at him,she would use his middle name,"John King"

Mother was Ruth and daddy was James but was called J S as his middle name was Sanders. Grandmother was Elizabeth but called Lizzie. Her mother was called "good maw" and never knew her real first name. She was part indian and looked the part.

Sadie has always been a very popular name in Scotland. I knew so many when I was growing up in the 60's ...

Oh do you know why your dad called her Bobbie, mrs R ?....so cute actually...

Ya know,I have no idea! They met at 15 & 17,so maybe her friends in school called her Bobbie? Now I`m going to ask my older bro and sis and see if they know. Her middle name was Joyce, which sounds like a girl`s name but was actually my grandmother`s maiden name. My grandmother was Virginia-I was named for her.

My MIL was Geneva Pearl. My FIL called her "Skeets" or "Goldberg". Any guesses where Goldberg came from?
