My mom was on oxygen but during the day she had a portable one.....can you do that? My sister just didn't let her near the stove. :)

She even took the portable on a plane when we flew to Florida for a cruise wedding for my niece.

Sorry for your frustration Jim. I’m with CeeCee on this one. My friend in Oklahoma has a portable one that she just got a couple of months ago and it has made a world of difference to her lifestyle and moods. Now she can get out in the garden with her kids and grand kids and she loves it. She has a scooter too and a golf cart for outdoors.

I can't answer medically or technically as I am not qualified to do so. But...sometimes we all need to just "vent"...or as has been suggested just talk to take our minds off things....Please do....as you need to. Sometimes the frustration just keeps us from thinking clearly.

Does the portable unit not work in your case ?

And trust me, I do understand that you want things to be as they were....But sometimes they just cannot be....& THAT is very frustrating !

I`m sorry you are having such trouble,Jim. My sister is right there with you-in spite of having stem cell treatments and being on a drug that costs her 14,000 a month. I know she never thought she would be spending her hard earned wealth just to be able to breathe. Guess that she`s lucky she has the $$$ but traveling would have been so much more fun.
 
Jim, I hope you stay positive. There are many people out there who depend on oxygen for various reasons, and I'm glad you have it available for your health. Please make the best of your situation, you have had a good life and a lot to live for yet and enjoy. Hugs.

What sort of stem cell treatment? If I may ask ?

$14 G's a month!? What's her quality of life? It better be exceptionally excellent, for that obscene amount of money!
 
Sorry to hear this too, Jim. Please check out the portable unit. It would give you so much more freedom. I have 2 friends that use them!. I am here quite a bit also. Feel free to pm me. Sending you prayers and good wishes tonight.
 
Do you have anyone by you that you can talk to ? My friend was in your place ,she needed oxy. because she was at end stage COPD ..... and I think just having me as a listening ear helped her some days.
 
There are different sizes of portable units. My mom had a huge one by her bed that she didn't move and that's how she started out just needing it at night.

then there is the smaller rolling tank that you wheel around but she also had one that was like a shoulder bag...the size of a camera holder.

That's the one she traveled with...rechargeable battery.

Sorry my mother for several years in her 90's was tied to it
and learned to live with it but she was very reluctant to go out socially.
She took it to the movies and other places. She complained a lot also--
you can complain.
