What do you expect from SF??

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
Posters come here from all over the globe. Some end up throwing a public tantrum and leave because they can't turn SF into what they envision it should be. Others settle in and share what they can and enjoy the social intercourse with others of their age and what might interest each. The idea that this forum is like a canvas upon which we can all paint our thoughts and ideas strikes me as a perfect way to describe why it's here. We are provided with the canvas, the paint and one only need to step up to the aisle and make their mark... AND it's all free....In this day and age it's a real deal! Thanks Matrix!!!

Yep. We all should thank Matrix AND Seabreeze for this delightful forum. I certainly enjoy it......until some member shoots off his/her mouth

and spoils it for the rest of us. (Oh yeah; YOU know who you are.)

I like this forum, too. It's a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the truly pathetic board that AARP has up. That board has its platform set from a program that was marginal, at best, twenty years ago. This board uses the platform that most good, online boards use, today: Easy to follow up on posts, easy to follow what's going on in different sections of our forum. Thanks forum hosts/moderators!

Until we we post an opposing opinion, and or 'swim against the tide' as it were. Then if [we] insist?...the thread is often closed...I don't get ?

It is not a Kumbaya world out there & IMO all aspects of it should be discussed....in a reasonable manner. And should be able to be , by reasonable people.

I am certain your idea of a great forum is out there on the wide expanse of the WWW, maybe you should be looking for it?

Another vote of thanks for SF and the folks that help to keep it available to us.

I do wish that members were more tolerant and accepting of different points of view.

I'm not saying that members need to agree just be more tolerant and agreeable when it comes to expressing alternate points of view.

I think all viewpoints should be allowed to be expressed ONLY up to the point that obviously offensive, factually incorrect, revisionist views of history are presented. At that point, there is no debate possible: The poster of such nonsense has an agenda, is closed to being corrected, and the majority, in here, will not suffer the same, nor should we have to.

Qft.

I expect pretty much what I am getting. Casual conversation with my peers on many interesting topics. Are all topics of interest to me? No, if I am not interested in a topic I move on to another. I like the serious, informative stuff about SS and retirement, as well as the light hearted entertaining stuff.
Adding thanks to the forum powers that be. I was a moderator in a forum years back, and it was hard work.

The things I like best here are making friends, laughing/humor, learning new things, art, personal stories, being able to offer support, people's families, travels and pets.

What sometimes makes me laugh, also annoys me at times, is when someone is arguing against everyone else, yet if the complainers would just finally be quiet, it would go away, but they cannot keep their mouths shut. Can NOT allow someone the last word. God forbid.

No, they are obsessed with throwing gasoline on the dang fire and we're off again!

:yawning: Ya know, speak your piece, speak it again as the matter gains new info, but after awhile, as it goes off topic, recognize when it's time stop, already. That is the only way to stop a troll looking for a fight.

Yes. SF is the best Forum for Seniors there is on the internet. It's more than I expect. It's fun and informative and I thank the members and admin!

I stumbled onto this forum a couple of years back and had no idea how it all works. I'm glad I stayed to find out. Many of our friends have passed on or aren't able to visit like we use to. I have my kids who I am close to, and I'm thankful for that, but it's not the same as talking or listening to people of my generation. This forum fills that void. I think Matrix and Seabreeze do a wonderful job and I can only imagine the work involved in keeping the forum running smoothly. You are much appreciated as well as the members who take the time to read and respond to my comments and posts. Hopefully we will be together for a long time to come.

Agree with all the positive comments! What keeps me here is that it has the feel of neighborhood conversations with humor and interesting topics. Such a refreshing change from other forums I've tried, thanks so much! :cheerful:

What do I expect from this forum?

For it to be here. That’s it.

How much enjoyment I get out of being a participating member is directly up to me and me alone.

What I totally enjoy the most here are the members. They are what makes this forum what it is. I totally LOVE humour and there are so many members here that offer some ‘must needed’ comic relief.

The information and tips offered about retirement including downsizing are very valuable. It’s nice learning important information from trusted members.

I really like the moderation here and how’s it’s done. Its a very fair and friendly site and I feel privileged to be a part of it and

The only thing I can add is that I would welcome a zero torrerence for name calling and personal attacks.

Disagree, fine . Debate, fine. Name calling and personal attacks? Heck no !

The key word here is PERSONAL .

One FIRM clear warning . Then, adios.

Ditto+ to all the above!

All I would expect from any site is respect from other members, I find the views and experiences of people in my age group very interesting, a Good Morning greeting is always nice, and I enjoy playing the Word Games, SF works for me :)
