What are your favourite Flowering VINES?

Beautiful. Keesha, we don’t see them here, either. Lots of chickadees though.

Thank you Shalimar. Wow! I’m really surprised. I just assumed these birds were all throughout Canada but clearly I was wrong.

Chickadees are my favourite songbird. They are so friendly and sing so many different songs.
One bird we don’t see often around here but are totally stunning are the indigo buntings.
They are bright turquoise and stand out like a sore thumb.

wisteria will kill your trees--i like trumpet vines but they are hard to control--honey suckle and jasmine take my breath away--i love hydrangea--and lantanna

Trumpet vine causes serious allergic reactions, as a very painful 2nd degree burn, in susceptible individuals, including yours truly. I was climbing and pruning an oak that had fairly heavy trumpet vine growth, and I had to ask the client for a clean shirt, as my arm felt like it was on fire! It got me through a broadcloth, long sleeve, button-down. The burn blisters took a week to fully heal out.

Keesha, the green berries are the most toxic part of the Lantana plant for plants and humans but also the leaves if ingested. It's okay if they just touch.

Thank you Lara for clarifying that.

Here are flowering vines for those of us in colder climates. They are from zone 2 and 3. LOTS to choose from Camper

...oops, I forgot to mention something important about Lantana. I read somewhere on the internet that there is a native Lantana, where the blossoms have both both pink and orange coloring, that is not toxic when ingested. I'd be careful of that internet information though.

Terry...how did you get rid of the Wisteria?? Do tell. Pretty please? :praying:

Keesha and rkunsaw...I love the "Crown Vetch" but don't have any, boo hoo. I do have blue "Vinca" and I like it :love_heart:

Twinkles...I too love Lantana BUT watch out if you have Pets. It's highly poisonous!!
I watch my dogs constantly on leashes in my front yard where my Lantana dwells in a rock garden.

bingo...I never heard of Carolina Jasmine. Maybe that's what I have?? I live in NCarolina. I don't know but my Jasmine has a strong heavenly scent

Manatee...I agree with Honeysuckle. It's hardy, pretty, and smells divine...yes yes yes
i'm so late getting back in here....we lived in NC over 50 years....just moved to southeast Illinois. ....
Carolina jasmine has a yellow flower...leaves are very dark green...drops seed tho and shows up everywhere

Oh thank you for that clarity. I'm now sure my jasmine is not the Carolina variety because the flowers are pure white and leaves are not "very dark".
