Creepy and annoying commercials

Interesting thread

We have no TV reception
I've sorta missed the good/funny commercials

The creepy annoying ones, not so much

You guy's depictions are a help

a poster I made awhile back

How dare that company divulge such highly classified information about us!

All the prescription drug commercials are annoying to me. The list of side effects is a mile long, much worse than the condition itself, and lately I've noticed some of them have added death as a possible side effect.

These "Ask Your Doctor" commercials are one of my Pet Peeves. The ONLY two nations which allow this nonsense are the U.S. and New Zealand. Estimates of the cost of these commercials vary between 6 and 10 billion dollars a year, and the drug companies get to take those costs off their taxes. In fact, these drug companies spend more on their commercials than they do for R&D. If our government ever got serious about reducing health care costs in this nation, getting rid of these stupid ads would be the First place to start...IMO.

The ONLY positive effect these commercials have on me is they help keep my reaction times good....as I quickly reach for the Mute button on the remote every time they appear.

I recall an eerie ad campaign back in the 50's when the ad said only, "It's Coming". Even in the daily paper an entire page said only, "It's Coming". I don't recall how long it lasted but it eventually revealed what is coming. It was Folgers Coffee. I also recall the Noxema woman ad saying "Take it off, take it all off." Ford Motor Co. ran a TV ad in the 60's for the clearest windshield. The ad was pulled when it was reveled there was no windshield in the car!

I record routine programs and then fast-forward through commercials but I'm not always fast enough with the remote. Most annoying are for local car dealerships that SHOUT.

Prescription drug commercials that advise you to talk to your doctor. Like anyone is going to be able to buy it without your doctors writing the prescription. I don't visualize people explaining to their doctor what they saw on TV and explaining to him or her the side effects.

The American freight furniture,Co always screams,... on their commercials .....very annoying I'll never by from them....so their method is absolutely counter productive IMO

Well, when a dermatologist suggested Humira for psoriasis, & I noted the TV disclaimers ....he got pissed off. In a very annoyed tone, proceeded to tell me that the chances of them happening are so slim...that i was being ridiculous . Got up, & as he left the exam room stated plainly that I need not return till I get the TB!....... test and consider the med.

No, I have never returned.

Knight, that "talk to your doctor" thing always cracks me up. Imagine if everyone called their doctor with the questions raised by every commercial! The poor doctors would never be able to get off the phone.
