Kindness and commiserations to our brothers and sisters in Japan at this hard time and to the parents of the "cave boys"

As Japan deals with yet another disaster and we in other parts of the globe have also experienced the ravages of cyclones; typhoons; tsunamis; landslides; forest fires ; volcanic eruptions etc etc how much do you believe that these are:

a) caused by and should be rectified by humans
b) Godly and cannot be controlled
c) Satanic and cannot be controlled
d) just the way the planet rolls

or e) another theory all together!

I wonder whether it is safer to live above the equator - below the equator OR just on the equator - this by the way is a serious epidemiological question and appropriate research documents should be forwarded!!

The universe rolls on, physical laws manifest as they may, and we are an infinitesimal part of that process. Only the unbridled egos of most of our species mates makes them believe that the world revolves around them. We are simply another experiment of Nature. We will have our time on this little planet and then cede the stage to the next alpha beings which, if my hunch is correct, may very well be the very advanced forms of the simple robots we now tinker with in AI labs around the world. Once those machines understand that they no longer need us around, and also have the absolute realization that our species has done far more destructive things, in its existence, than constructive, when it comes to the good of this planet, we will be summarily eliminated, Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics be damned.

that'd be D

as in Matthew 5:45
'He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.'

what about Genesis chapter one - the beginning??

ch1 v1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth [notice the plural word heavens and the singular word earth of course - very significant] and verses 6-8 tells us why it will always rain! V 26 fascinates me time and time again - what a reflection and if true it tells us more about the God head and who she or he is??

sorry I got carried away - an old preacher man I once worshiped with used to say " when you go into the bible and read earnestly it's like going into a gold mine and as you go deeper and dig deeper you discover unseen nuggets of gold - Amen!

oops nearly forgot my post - gotta be B - in the beginning!! ya know someone once told me why she thought the earths center was a molten mass of lava and darn me I canny remember!

God I wish I could read the bible in Hebrew - original texts that would be magic!

a subsidiary question and option!! - authors privilege !

do you think the original blue print and instructions for care of planet; livestock and plants has been observed and followed??

E...another theory altogether. But I believe my source (Bible) is not theory but rather truth. I know my beliefs may make some uncomfortable but I have to be me. You don't have to read this (you may choose to move on):)

a) I agree. For example; Man's carelessness or meanness causes out of control campfires/arson leading to massive fires/rockslides(from erosion)
For this, Man receives natural consequences

b and c) I disagree. God does not cause disasters and can control what Satan causes and wants to destroy. Sometimes, however, God chooses not to stop it because of many many reasons...for example:

1-He's testing us, shaping, and polishing our rough edges to bring us closer to being godly and ready for His Kingdom. Yet never perfect of course so we'll need a Savior (Christ)

2-Death is not a bad thing in God's eyes because he's bringing Man home where there is love and all things good

3-God is humbling us, bringing us to our knees, because sometimes it takes a disaster to get our attention that we need a Savior (Jesus suffered so we would have this option/gift/grace). No amount of material worldly possessions is as important as our life in eternity.

d) I agree, according to God's perfect plan for his creation

D with nothing added.
There's no way humans can cap volcanoes or stop earthquakes or tornadoes.
And there's no way humans cause them in any way.

You are correct Camper about volcanoes and probably tornadoes,
but not I think about all earthquakes.

There have been sever recently in the UK, not a place where an
earthquake is a common occurrence, they started some time ago
and have been blamed on "Fracking", the name for "Hydraulic Fracturing.

Here is a link to a Scientific report from 2011, there are many later reports,
though not all from the UK.
