Do you ever scare yourself with "symptoms?"

Good grief, is this an age-related thing? For a couple of days I have had a bout of bloating and random pains in my abdomen, so after googling my symptoms I'm freaking myself out. Sometimes internet doctoring is not a good thing!!

So I guess I'll call my doctor on Monday and have a few things checked out. I just wish I wasn't so susceptible to the power of suggestion since I have imagined the worst all day. Gah.

Many, many years ago I read up on breast cancer and really made myself nervous. That night, I had a stabbing pain in my right breast. OH MY GAWD, I HAVE BREAST CANCER!!!! I'M GOING TO DIE!!! MY CHILD WILL BE AN ORPHAN!!! MY HUSBAND WILL MARRY SOMEONE ELSE!!!! I spent at least four hours mourning my imminent demise until I removed my bra for bed. I had taken the Christmas tree down that afternoon and there was a large pine needle in my bra, poking me in the breast.

Whew! Crisis averted. I'm going to live. At least until next December 26th.

I looked up some symptoms once and I was told to phone an ambulance! It was norovirus I had.Nasty and infectious to others but not hospital worthy!

 I probably just have gas, but I've been obsessing all freakin' day.

Get ‘em all the time.
I ignore them, thinking they will go away.
So far, so good

Hey, if it’s something terminal, I don’t care to know.
Not gonna waste what’s left to obsess on that reality.

Immediate pleasure is too precious

I’ve squandered too much of this life as it is

I figure that most of my pains are age related, something I ate, or anxiety(my worst enemy), especially during the night.
I think and hope that one would know when something is serious enough for medical attention.

When I have a little stomach discomfort, a 1/4 tsp of baking soda in clean water does the trick for me. Get more alkaline vs acidic.

ON the breast fears, my support is a drop of Iosol daily, do research..our body's tissues need iodine and breasts for sure.

I know some here won't touch alternative supports, BUT, they work.

The first time I had those symptoms.....I too thought negative, etc. Turned out to be wildly excessive gas...<grin>

Let's just say, once the gas 'cleared' so did the symptoms....LOL!!

Haha, I have had plenty of gas in my 60+ years. These pains were "different" so I have found everything from ovarian cancer to diverticulitis by googling...eeeeeeek. The good news is, the pains are gone today. I'm still going to schedule my annual physical and get things checked out.

I had to laugh at all the "gas" related comments...not because I thought they were funny, but because I experienced similar "issues" a few months ago. The pain was under my right breast and they were excruciating! Then, they moved to under my left breast. My husband told me they were just gas pains. I didn't believe him so I started Googling and was convinced I had a hiatal hernia! Several days later, I found out he was right...just gas :)

Could be you are low or deficient in magnesium and potassium. Look at these for those cramp issues.

O.K. I just had a complete blood test. I wasn't deficient in anything.

My prior test showed I was deficient in B12. This test did not show that. Soy milk that I use now supplies 50% of the daily B12 requirements in one serving.

So without a test how do you determine whether you are deficient or not?

So you are counting on soymilk for your B12 requirement? Yikes. Soy for starters inhibits the thyroid, I don't touch it. I jumped on it when it hit the U.S. and talk about FATIGUE, then I went thru tests with my chiro and that was the culprit. SOY,,,read about it.
.
How do you determine other stuff? Do a Dr. Google on "why do I get leg cramps? Magnesium and potassium will always show up. Unless you are getting EVERYTHING you need in our depleted foods, then you are just fine. Maybe you can enjoy those leg cramps. I sure don't if I get one now and then....and I take mag and often potassium supplements...and at 80 things DEPLETE ...

I don't trust those numbers tests, we are not numbers. We are symptoms. The pharma world devised all these numbers and here we are Numbers.

My B12 is good but I still take 1000mcg of Methyl B12 under my tongue, a lozenge, if one is really low, take 2000mcg at least under tongue.

Allopathic docs know Zilch about prevention. They sell drugs when one gets to that point.

I've been studying this world of prevention for over 25 yrs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's almost laughable that the medical world sets up these number guidelines and has this for all people and a person can be old or young, fat or skinny and all these numbers are what we should be. Balony I say. It's all about symptoms and then WE go to work with Dr. Google and work to fix ourselves. As best we can with a lot of issues.

I haven't been taking the soy milk very long but I don't think I am having any problems with soy.

In fact it seems to be easier to digest and acts as a natural laxative.

It's too late for me to worry about prevention. I'm 85 years of age and ride a bike and walk every day.

I also have the B12 pills that you put under your tongue but I don't bother if the blood tests come out o.k.

That for me is the criterion for any supplement.

I'm not about to guess about magnesium and potassium if it's in my diet.

I'm guessing the cramps come from over exertion possibly. What is weird is that they only show up at night when you aren't moving around.

When I told my doctor about the nocturnal cramps he said "Welcome to the club".

That's when most leg cramps show up, at night. It's what I said but if you don't to do anything that's your choice.

My good friend is 92 and still takes supps and goes to show, different strokes. She takes no drugs but drops for glaucoma.

How can you tell when you are taking too many supplements.

Honestly. I read this on the internet.

A tablet will show up in your stool.

Now that I analyze it and I havent had the cramps lately, I'm convinced it's over exertion which causes muscle fatigue.

Think about it. It doesn't appear in the arms or upper body. Just in the legs.

If you are satisfied that is fine, I've been taking supps for over 25 yrs and they don't show up on my stools, plus, I don't take many hard rock tablets, I take capsules and powders,,,
