I live in Oregon... where do you live?

I live in the city of Preston, about just over one hour ride on the bus is the world famous Blackpool tower.

guyrunningaround, I had never heard of this. Looks like a fun place to explore, very ornate inside. You are near Liverpool... I'm trying to teach my granddaughter who the Beatles are/were. Right now we are learning "I want to hold your hand"...

terry123, you must hear a lot of air traffic/jets overhead? I have heard a few time on this thread how dirty the gulf waters are... it's too bad.
Yes, there are times it can be quite noisy but its not something that happens constantly. It sort of makes me feel safe knowing they are protecting us.

hiraeth, I was born in Portland and spent 30 years of my life in various parts of Oregon. My husband and I are kind of sorry we ever left. I did a painting of Multnomah Falls when I was first learning to paint back in the 70s. I live in Calfornia and I am close to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Nation Parks. I've traveled with my husband on his job and have spent a few months in many different states. We both loved to travel and are kind of sorry he retired when he did.

Yongy, a part of the world that is very old and full of legends... lots of castles and history!

Yes it does, and of course some people speak Welsh as well. We have lived in Wales since 1990, and have no wish to live in any other part of the UK.

Linda, I have lived in the Portland area on and off for about 26 years... the traffic can become a nightmare on both i-5 and 205 so I'm relieved I am retired and no longer have to commute in it. It's nice that you have traveled some... it's the only way to appreciate the our beautiful country.

I left Portland when I was 3 or 4 and we went up to Washington (Cashmere) and spent a winter with my mom's cousin. Then I lived on the coast for 5 or 6 years. At Florence, almost right on the beach and then at a place called Glasgow near North Bend/Coos Bay. Also spent a lot of time in Salem, Bend and then later moved back to Damascus (near Portland) for about 5 years. So I pretty well love the whole state of Oregon. I still have relatives in Portland and Salem but we don't get up there often.

If you could move anywhere you wanted right now and have plenty of money to buy a new home etc. Where would you go hiraeth?

Linda, that would be anywhere with a beautiful water view... how 'bout you?

Hi hiraeth,I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and just a few months ago me and my Hubby moved outside the city to one of the suburbs to live closer to my daughter and her family.

I live in a small village in the N.E. of Scotland. It's so small that the lights dim if someone plugs in an electric razor. Internet is by carrier pigeon and we often get the neighbours sheep wandering into our garden. However, it's the sort of place that people don't even lock their doors - at least not during the day.

Capt Lightning, nice to meet you. Last couple of years I have spent some time working with ancestry.com looking for long lost relatives in Dumfries, Scotland. It ended with James Kirk early 1700... not to be confused with the James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise! These relatives migrated to Nova Scotia, Canada and 2 brothers and 1 cousin migrated to Washington and Oregon looking for land to farm.

Maybe you can post one of your favorite pics from your area?
