We Don't Need It

Which 'product' do you think the world could manage without ?

No particular product quickly comes to mind but I think that we would all manage to get along just fine without mosquitoes, ticks and chiggers.

“Marine debris is one of the most pervasive and pernicious global threats to the health of the world’s coastal areas, oceans and waterways,” U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service deputy director Jim Kurth testified to a Senate subcommittee in May 2016. The 180 national wildlife refuges that protect ocean, coast or Great Lakes habitat know the problem firsthand.

Nearly every seabird on the planet now eats plastic. Fish are eating microplastics — tiny beads found in cosmetics, lotions and toothpaste. Toxic chemicals bind to microplastics, and fish swallow these, too. When we eat the fish, we also swallow the microplastics and the toxins.

Humans have proven ourselves to be terrible stewards of this planet. Mother Nature will be greatly relieved when we become extinct.

You are being too harsh on the modern day humans.

When I was growing up there was no such thing as recycling. Everything went to the incinerator to be burned. Now we have landfills.
I can remember raw sewage going into rivers untreated. Now we have sewage treatment plants.

In general I feel there was much more pollution before. Now at least we are aware of it.

I'm referring to human behavior since the industrial revolution.

Being aware of the pollution and electing leaders with the backbone to fix it are two different things. Even now, hard-fought environmental protections are being rolled back to ease the way for corporate profits. Do you really believe I'm being too harsh? Future generations will vilify us for turning their planet into a hothouse toilet - and rightfully so. I'd say I'm not being harsh enough.

Styrofoam can be safely burned in responsibly operated municipal solid waste incinerators. Incineration provides a means of managing municipal solid waste while helping to reduce landfilling, and it provides a means of recovering energy from the materials being burned.

I don't agree and you can't predict the future. I don't have much faith in the global warming scare scenario. The world warmed up without humans around.
I went back and checked the average temperature in my city for the last 100 years. It hasn't changed one degree. In fact it's half a degree colder.
Try it where you live. Let us know how you make out.
The pollution where I live is less not more. Coal has been phased out. We used to heat our homes with it.
