Canada Merge With The United States, and Become One Country?

I doubt if this would happen, not in my lifetime anyway, but it would be nice not to have to have a passport to visit the beautiful and scenic Canada...

If the United States and Canada were corporations, or European states, they would have merged a long time ago. Each has what the other needs: The United States has capital, manpower, technology and the world’s strongest military; Canada has enormous reserves of undeveloped resources and ownership of a vast and strategically important Arctic region.

Well, I would rather visit Canada, lol...not going to Mexico for anything, never have.
 
There has even been talk of making Canada, USA and Mexico into one nation. Who knows what will happen in the far, far future? Thoughts of dividing California into two or three states has also gained steam but, thankfully, dying on the vine.

Typical economist think. It's all about getting hold of Canadian resources IMO. What do the Canadians need from a stronger military but America has a huge government debt hence the covetous regard of Canada's vast buried treasure. True Warrigal, Canada wouldn't want our debt, that's for sure. We'd benefit from the 'merge' more than they would, IMO.
 
Dame Warri & Sea, I like to watch the history channel, and yesterday there was a program that was telling us about findings that showed the people of Mexico had inhabited the land as far up as Canada. Maybe even into the upper areas of Canada. One of the commentator was Mexican, and said he wondered what those who said, "Go back to where you come from", would say if they knew the facts that were being discovered.
OH,and have you seen the online flapping on about Russia said it is going to annex part of the moon, since they were going up to colonize it before anyone else can. I wonder who they think they will annex it from??? :lol1:

This is fairly new because I was up in Bellingham (living) and we went up to Canada often. They had to see id and wanted to know what we were doing, where we were going etc. You also couldn't haul things up there, I mean things that would appear you were moving there. My brother bought a house way up in BC, and he and his wife lived up there for a time. She didn't like the "boonies" like my brother did, so they came back down to Bow WA. I would have given anything to live in that neat little house, on that tiny lake, it was gorgeous! Up beyond Prince George?

What I was going to say above is that I don't know if my bro had to have a passport when they moved. I'll check and see, denise

I think the facts were always known that we took some of the land in the US away from the Mexicans to begin with, so their coming here is not that much of a surprise now, tables are turning, but many don't want to look at the realities of what happened long ago...http://www.cbsnews.com/news/americas-forgotten-war-south-of-the-border/3/

Greenberg says the conflict matters today because "A lot of people live in land that was taken from Mexico in this war, taken from Mexico, and they're not aware of that. I believe a lot of the immigration debate that's going on now operates in a vacuum, where people are not realizing that in fact Mexicans are here in lands that once belonged to Mexico."

My husband and I drove to Canada in the early 70s, and no passport was required. This passport thing only happened between the US and Canada after 9/11, when all the homeland security nonsense kicked in. I believe the passport requirement became law in June of 2009.

Good point, I don't own a gun but I am glad for the right to have one if I choose. The way things are going, I just may choose to;), and I won't forget the ammo either:eek:
