Yes, I suppose this forum could be loosely described as "social media", but my feelings extend more to those who spend hundreds of dollars on a smart phone, then spend the bulk of their day glued to things like Facebook and Twitter. I check into this, and a couple of other online forums 2 or 3 times a day, for a few minutes at a time...mostly as a short break between various projects I'm usually doing. Primarily, I like this forum as it offers some insight into how others are handling retirement, and their "golden years". I've picked up a few valuable ideas, and hopefully offered others a pertinent tip on things I've experienced.
I'm much as you describe here, because the bulk of my friends and family are on facebook, twitter, instagram and other private forums and groups, as well as email, messenger and text. I am "glued" to all of that, because I able to stay in close touch with all the people I care about that way.
You could also say I am "glued" to my phone apps. My Notes app allows me to keep a close track of the various projects that are ongoing with clients, with attendant links, lists and billing information. My Reminders app alerts me to appointments, things I need to do, time sensitive issues etc. My Calendar app sends me concise list of everything I have scheduled for that day, both business and personal, and alerts me a week ahead when a birthday is coming up, or a bill needs to be paid etc. Every time I think of something I need to pick up at the grocery store, I add it to my my Grocery List app so I don't forget.
I shop online to save time, and whenever I think of something I need, or come across something I have to purchase for a client, my Amazon app is right there, and with a few clicks it's ordered and on its way to me with delivery usually in 2 days because I'm a Prime Member. I often need to research things for clients, and I have Safari right there as my go-to browser. Don't need to carry a calculator because it's on my phone, nor a flashlight because it has a powerful one built in. Weather app alerts me to emergency weather conditions, flash flood warnings, tornado warnings. My phone also sends me Amber Alerts when a child goes missing. I can deposit my checks through my Banking App with its scan feature, transfer funds between accounts, pay for items with a swipe of my phone. My clients can pay me by sending money to me through Venmo or PayPal. I keep track of my blood donations (I have a rare blood type so I'm conscientious about donating regularly) through my Blood Donor App, My TelaDoc app allows me to schedule a doctor's visit virtually, with a video call, for those pesky illnesses that come up and I don't want to waste the time going to a brick and mortar facility. My Library app gives me books to read or listen to right there at my fingertips.
I'm sure your eyes crossed and you stopped reading a while back  but I could go on for another two paragraphs about the 30 or so other apps that I use regularly, all of which make my life easier, save time, create efficiency, or are just plain fun for those times when I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting for someone or something.
So, yeah, I'm "glued" to my phone all right!
