Why get remarried?

awww bless him... we never even knew he was poorly, he never told us... so it was a big shock when he died...:(

I've been here 11 years... and I have seen people come and go... people get very sick, people die... and it's all very sad, but we have to come to expect it on a senior forum

However when we lose friends from here who are relatively young, in their 50' and 60's , ...as we have, that's the saddest of all..
..answering myself...just realised its actually 12 years that I've been here not 11.... 12th anniversary tomorrow in fact.... 29th of January... 2014...

Marriage is just a lot of paper work. If ya want to share living quarters with somebody then DO IT !!! It's nobody's
freakin' bizzness!
It is in Australia.

A couple living together under certain circumstances can be considered to be de facto husband and wife. When this happens any government pensions are paid at the lower married rate and each partner is entitled to consideration when it comes to selling property and inheritance matters, regardless of what the wills say. I imagine this is why prenuptial agreements are drawn up.

Alternately one partner could charge the other partner rent, with a written contract ready to present to any appropriate authorities.

“Men aren’t avoiding marriage, they’re avoiding divorce.”
I know a few men who have remained single after their divorce's. For various reasons. I only know of one man who remarried and it was after his wife passed. He got married after less than a year. And, she has the same name as his first wife!

It's the same here, but it may vary from state to state. I'm not sure. It's officially called "Common Law Marriage." And in states where I have lived, it is automatic after 8 years of cohabitation. You live together for 8 years, and you are married with all the benefits and penalties that come with any marriage, and you are married whether you want to be or not.

My former neighbours, who moved 2 years ago, he was 90. She was his 2nd wife. Cute couple. We met em at the swimming pool with a heat wave. Nobody has air conditioning cause it's normally not that hot. The swimming pool was the only place to stay cool.

love and marriage are very personal things and cannot be decided or chosen or perhaps I should have said should not be decided or chosen in public view IMO!
It's all about money. I threw away the divorce papers because we forgave and forgot and lets move on and not be reminded of this negativity. Luckily the lawyer had a copy. You get the city on your back. They take you to court. They want money. My ex was on benefits and they trie to dump the responsibility to take care of someone on their ex. What? How? That's crazy. Go irritate their mother or something. Why an ex?
