EASTERN COTTONTAIL RABBIT (FUN FACTS!)


Here in California coastal area seaside chaparral areas, I often see our cute brush rabbit, sylvilagus bachmani, cottontail species. They tend to be slow moving, freeze when encountered, and close to dense vegetation they hop back into quickly. Note in the image below, the poor creature's ears are infested with ticks. They only usually live for 1 to 2 years due to predation and disease though in captivity have reached 6.

That comes from one of the rabbit pages on FB that I have followed for a very long time. Mr. Bigglesworth is a bunny I will never forget.
