10 things disappearing from America

You might be right, That Guy. I often wonder if our children will someday tell their children, "It wasn't like this when I grew up; it was so much better; we had a free country." :(

I can't even imagine how F'd up it will be in another 50 years. I'm really glad I never had kids.

We don't agree politically with our kids, Old Hipster, and we wonder what it will be like when our grandkids get older....apparently the Constitution is ignored now; God has been pushed aside...what next.

This is why I have a plan to escape ... to a warmer climate with no heating bills .... where I can live cheaper ... and better .... low real estate taxes ... low crime environment....
yes if you open your eyes and observe ... things are not getting better in the USA..... may its time to prepare for harder times coming....
I'm a realist and not a doom and gloomer.

I feel sorry for anybody just starting out in life, The American Dream has been replaced by a nightmare.

I say this everyday, for so many reasons!

I can't get the article to fully load for me.
Sorry I can't help you there, about the article.

Most of our close friends are childless too, we seem to gravitate towards each other. Man, my 20's and 30's I got so sick and tired of people asking me about kids, everybody always assumes you just have them. And then if you don't, what's the problem ?!?

We've all been observing, hydrodog. If we moved, it would be to be closer to our families, and few of them would be able to move any distance. I don't feel a strange place would be the way to go....being with family means we'd help each other if need be. People might have helped each other during the depression; but it's a different world now.
Nice as it sounds, we all have to do what's best for us, and what family we have left.

We don't really have anything keeping us here, but we are within walking distance to a river and thousands of acres of forests.

So when society collaspes and we are thrown back into the stone age we can atleast have water and wood and maybe a few critters to eat.

The bees are the big story, far and above all lifestyle change worries. They are the 'canary in the coal mine.' Without them the World, not just the US, won't last a year.

Bee keepers down here don't sleep well just thinking about it. It's hard to access new Queens here now as they're all being shipped to the US to replace dying hives.
We've so far not had the devastation to them that is occurring there, but any not aware of the danger, do a bit of research and worry deeply.

Just Google .. bees dying US... there's pages of stuff.

The latest thinking is that it springs from a pesticide that incorporated a nicotine ingredient to 'insect proof' plants. Did they forget that bees are insects?
There are also numerous parasites in bees now that other insects presumably dusted off in the past, before the insecticides took out the parasite eaters... and so it goes. We just get smarter 'n smarter don't we?

:dito: :iagree: OG, some things mentioned in the article are pensions, wages, paid vacations, cursive handwriting, emergency rooms, cars, traditional banks, etc. Sorry to hear about all the bees and other animals dying...we're next, now we're just getting more cancers and more sickly.

At the rate this World is being abused and bombarded with all sorts of chemicals etc, i wouldn't be surprised if God decided enough was enough and demolished Earth and all in it, it breaks my heart to see all the abuse of our beautiful world.

About that God thing Jilly, have you asked him why the hell he just didn't have a word with the insects to stop eating the crops so we wouldn't have have felt the need to pepper them with toxic concoctions?? Just wonderin'

I do believe in a God thing, Di; and don't think it works that way. I think we've all been given free will, and that includes the ones who put $$$$ above health and everything else. Chemicals solved one problem just for a time, like antibiotics. Then, things got much worse. Doesn't matter to them tho; they'll come up with something else...such as GMO's.

The bee thing is scary....how many years without bees to pollinate, until there isn't any successful crops?? We rarely see any honeybees anymore, even tho we've planted things to attract them.

ETA: The emergency room problem - I wonder about that, too. I went in some months ago with symptoms of what could have been a stroke. Sat and waited for 5 hours before seeing a nurse, and more before I saw an intern. The waiting room was packed all that time. Have to wonder what we'll do if there is no ER nearby?? Would they then just admit you when you come in?? Can't see how that would save any money or time.....

Yes the Bees dying is the most disturbing aspect and nobody seems to even worry about it.

The decline in the number of hospital emergency rooms is a big worry.

Has something else replaced them ?
We have a lot of Urgent Care Clinics opening up, they are like regular Doctor's offices, but they are open 24 hours and you can go there if you have an emergency situation, or even just can't get into a Doctor someplace.
