10 Year Old Little Killer Murders His Mother For Not Buying Him A Headset

If he is indeed a psychopath, he needs to be put away forever. First they torture insects and then animals. When older, it will now be adults. No pity or compassion for any little monster who shoots his mom in the face, because he is having a hissy fit.

I think probably schizophrenic because of the “five friends” his sister talked about. It is a treatable illness. Regardless certainly inpatient hospitalization for a long time. But forever? No. He’s ten years old. He’s a child, not a monster.

I’m sure the psychiatrists will have a go with him. Something upstairs came disconnected. I don’t know what they will do with him. Prisons usually have a detention center within the confines of the prison until the prisoner reaches the age of 21 and then they are released to the general population. He is obviously ill.

If he is indeed a psychopath

Big big key;

'The day after his mother’s death, he logged on to her Amazon account to buy the headset online, according to the criminal complaint

The day after the shooting when he saw his grandmother crying, the boy “stated without any empathy or compassion: ‘I’m really sorry for what happened. I’m sorry for killing my mom,’” according to the complaint.
After he apologized, “he then asked if his Amazon package arrived,” the complaint said.

Exactly! If he can do that to his own mother, and at 10 years old, what do people think he will be capable of doing to strangers when he's full grown?

I say keep him locked up forever. He may be fixable but do you want to take the chance? Would you want him working the same job alongside your granddaughter? No, he needs to stay locked up. He's a real life Michael Myers or future serial killer. 9 out of 10 times they are never rehabilitated. I prefer to protect innocent people who are not damaged. It takes a lot of deep seated evil/mental illness to kill your own mother on purpose as a 10 year old. Then the next day ask if your Amazon package came yet.

Exactly! No, keep him locked up forever. He IS a 10 year old monster in my opinion. Something is irrevocably wrong with him. Keep him locked up and medicated for life. You see that even his own family turned him in. The cops had let him go at first and ruled it an accident till his family reported his confession. They know he is very sick. I'm glad they did the right thing.

What were the headphones for? Probably gaming and chatting online with "friends". And I bet he did that 20 out of 24 hours a day. It was his life, I bet.

That child is broken. Who broke him, I wonder? Maybe he was born with a defect that made him easily breakable.
Anyway, he doesn't belong in prison. I hope he can be helped enough to fully understand what he did.

I'm wondering how the 10 year old boy had access to a gun. Whose gun was that? The mother's? The mother knew he had severe behavioral issues and was violent, so if it was her gun, well, it's her fault.

If he is mentally ill he is not a monster. By all means, protect society, but he is a broken child, human. There is also a very limited correlation between mental illness and evil. They are far from synonymous.

What would be the cut off age to prosecute in your opinion?
For murder maybe none. The question should be would a released person be more likely to commit murder again than the average. If statistics can clearly show that is the case then I would consider it, but I am skeptical, and believe we should err on the side of public safety until such data is available.

I see this as more a public safety issue than a moral one...

It is uniform law in this Country, a defendant must fully understand the charges they face or the fair trial doctrine becomes hazy!

Some murderers are not able to be rehabilitated no matter what age they are. They understand what they did is against the law, they just don't care. They have no empathy whatsoever.

James Fallon, PhD, has studied the brains of many serial killers and believes the brains of some fetuses were bathed in way too much serotonin in utero, making them numb to serotonin effects after birth. This makes them unable to control anger or stress. This, along with other factors like being exposed to a violent environment, is a deadly combination that practically guarantees someone will become a serial killer.

This 10 year old that killed his mother sounds like a sociopath who could be a poster child for Dr. Fallon's theories.

Thanks for the video, informative but disturbing...

I agree, however the problem we have is sorting those than can from those that can't. Which is why I believe that once a person commits a murder they should not be allowed out again.

I am sure that's true. However it does not seem to me to adequately take public safety into account. Not sure how to fix it, but I think we should.

I am only thinking of applying this to people who have actually committed murder, not in any way proactively to those we think might.

Can you imagine a future where all babies born have to go through a brain scan before being released from the hospital? Sounds like the plot of a new movie.

It is a tough call for sure!
I made a call to the state’s attorney general’s office and introduced myself to her as a former Pennsylvania State Policeman and was wondering what the minimum age is for charging a child with felony murder or maybe it’s just murder in Wisconsin. She wanted to have a conversation with me about this pending case, but the answer I finally got was 10.
Just as a side note** she made the comment to me that they suspect the young boy is mentally disabled. So, you’re right. This may be a tough call, but I would agree with anyone that said the kid will be sent to a mental institution or hospital for help. Depending what’s available in the state.

It does raise some hard questions. I would never suggest imprisoning someone based on this. However perhaps knowing the risks ahead of time could help reduce them.

Glad its not a decision I have to make...
