It was 51°F and sunny today, which is typical weather for this time of year around Denver. We're in the rain-shadow of the Rockies... a desert steppe region on the western border of the Great Plains for you geography buffs.
It's a "sloppery" mess here this morning. There was some ice late yesterday and this morning it's a mixture of sleet and light snow. I had seen a few daffodils starting to peek out... hope this doesn't damage them!
Getting fine powder this morn
which will create a dense blanket and become ice going from 33°F to 12°F
and won't melt very soon
I best shovel it while it lets me
Hate chopping ice
Snowed about 2 inches of wet snow overnight. A far cry from the dire predictions of 6 to 10 inches. About a half an hour of easy shoveling even where the plow went by at the end of the driveway. Still spitting flakes, though.
Overnight we got a bit of snow and sleet but nothing major like in other parts of the country...maybe 2 inches. But it was slippery in the middle of the night, so my son (a trucker) didn't have to go to work. My youngest grandson didn't have school but I don't know if the public schools did or not.
It's been a very funny winter this year... I've never seen it before... But from November to January, we would have snow storms, but then it would melt and it would be grass showing everywhere. Nut once February got here, its been a snow storm after snow storm... Think we are suppose to get another 25cm on Saturday... We only had a coupke days in January when we usewd to get it all winter, but 2 days of -30... today it is overcast, but sitting a 5+, Very very weird... The Rideau Canel in Ottawa never opened this year, because the ice did not freeze deep enough....
