Most of October we had lovely fall weather: Sunny, comfortably warm days. Chilly nights (low 40s, high 30s Fahrenheit) but having a fire in woodstove for a few hours before midnight kept living room comfortable until the sun rose in morning.

The last few days the night time temps were lower and i kept the fire going till early morn. Usually have weeks of temps approaching freezing and dropping below, then weeks of 20s overnight. This year we abruptly hit 17F this predawn. But i think there's some polar front and states North of us got it sooner and worse.

We'll see if it lasts. Suspect it is going to fluctuate more than usual like it did last year. But at least i got another load of wood yesterday. Now have almost 2 cords. Over summer i cleared a corner of our very large living room, and we should be able to get a full cord in it. Another cord can fit on one end of porch.

The wood is well-seasoned and once the stove hot the logs catch as soon as added to the coals from previous ones. Today they're predicting a high of only 49F and cloudy much of day, so i'll probably let the fire die after sun up, cool enough i can clean ashes out and likely will need to relight earlier than have been up till now.

It rained again during the night but, the sun is out now....I still have a few outdoor faucets to cover, as it's suppose to freeze later this week.
Because of how quickly we went to lower temps (17F at 6a.m.) overnight i haven't put up my steel hose yet. Water froze in the nozzle at least last night. Laid it out in sun to defrost, so can drain and store later. Also need to turn off feed to outside faucet and cover it. Won't take long, but was busy with firewood yesterday.

We had our first "hard freeze" this morning, and tomorrow morning the temps may be in the teens. Then, mid-week we should warm back up a bit, but Winter will soon be here. If the Old Farmers Almanac is correct, this coming Winter may be a bit brutal.

Well it is starting to let us know that winter is coming, down to 17 F. Sunny though along with the cold. May get some snow later in the week. Darn it!

Weather is great here in Central Florida. Currently 67F @ 8:00 am. High today will be mid 80s. It will cool off a bit for the next few days - overnight lows in mid 50s, daytime highs mid 70s.
