There was nothing on the radar at 11pm last night for rain coming through on Weatherbug who said only a chance of rain, but the weather radio went off saying conditions were right for tornadoes.

Some time in the night the t-storms woke me up with high wind & heavy rain. The weather radio woke me up warning that radar indicated tornadic rotation that was west of me heading away. Then later another warning woke me up that east of me was radar had tornadic rotation again. Here is the link to the news: UPDATE: Damage reported after tornado-warned storms in Clark, Montgomery counties

BTW, husband slept through the storms.

I guess it’s safe to say, you didn’t get a good night sleep last night. I’m glad that you are ok today.

Woke up to seven inches of snow. No big surprise, for a couple days it was approximately what had been forecast for us. Ate breakfast, did a few things in the house.

What complicated the early part of the day was that I went out to shovel some snow, and with the intention to then run the snowblower. I completely forgot about an extension cord that was lying on the ground. DW or I usually suspend that cord above head height when we know snow is on the way... we'd both forgotten.

Ran over the cord and no problem with electric shock, but it took me a solid half hour (with four tools) to cut out & remove the portion of the cord tightly wound around the snowblowers tines!😔 while feeling stupid. The wound-up cord came out in short lengths & small bits.

Hope the rest of the day goes better... sigh.

We got down to 40 degrees after a Spring day yesterday. It is raining and The wind is blowing and we are under a high wind watch until tomorrow AM. I am glad I didn't go shopping.

I watch weather channels 361 and 362 every AM but directv is aware of a problem they re having. There was NO 361 this AM.

Some Directv users have lost more than one channel. I just hope I can see the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills tonight.
Then again we might loss power if anything blows a large branch on our power lines. But we are all prepared with wind watches- we all store gallons of fresh water (Our water pumps don't work without electric,) and check our flashlights -I have them in 3 rooms, and we check our battery stash.

My oven, a wall oven, will not work if the power goes out, but my propane counter burners will work- but I dont like to cook when it is too dark. Years ago on Thanksgiving , a warm but windy day, a friend of mine on another hill called me to see if she could use my oven, but I was out of power too, so they had to finish the turkey on their outside gas grill.

A few hours later power came back and she said the turkey was delicious!

Another neighbor bought a portable fryer, I think it works on propane, and he always fries his turkey outside, unless the weather is really bad.

Problem is, I can sleep through storms pretty good. I'll hear them & then drift back off to sleep. It's the warning alarm that will wake me up. That's why I love my weather radio so much.
if you turn off the phone you wouldn’t get them until you turn your phone back on .
I can sleep through a thunderstorm too. I find them soothing. Hurricane warnings are a different thing though. Check.

My husbands funny. When there’s a storm he will tell me in detail where the storm is and how many inches of rain/ snow and include wind mph etc. It’s like having my own weather man. 🄰

The weather radio I have is only for the National Weather Service information/alerts. It's electric with battery back up. I program it myself for what type of alerts we want to receive & for what specific areas we want it to alert for. The only alerts I get will be for my area.

We are on our second radio like this & really like it.

My husband would love one of these. Where did you get it from?

I initially thought you were talking about the iPhone storm alerts. My husband uses some weather program that shows exactly where storms are. It’s actually pretty cool.

I could have it on my phone also but that would take half his fun away.

Thanks Lilac
