Gosh, we haven't seen 26 C (high 70s F) in some time, and likely won't see it till October. Right now its 96 F, with humidity out of sight. Good news is we will get a 10-15 F degree help the next few days, and some rain. The bad news is we will possibly get a lot of rain.

Texas weather is more often than not in extremes... and basically there are two seasons - hot and humid, and then periods of cold and humid.
26C right now, with intermittent showers in the forecast ☔
Your Robin Williams quote is something we all need to keep in mind!

Until I moved to the Houston area in '81, I've never spent a cold season where the humidity is high.

Well, it was a bit of a shocker..... when the temps here get into the 30s - 40s, and there is a bit of a wind, well its just darn COLD. The expression "the cold just goes right thru you" must have come from this part of the country.

Ugh! The heat and humidity are almost unbearable for me. Didn't get below 84F in the house last night. It rained earlier, but instead of cooling it off, it only made it more muggy. The sun came out about 9 am which didn't help - the heat index right now is 104F (40C), so we're under a heat advisory. No let-up until the middle of next week.

We don't need to be out & about so enjoying a telenovel or movie on T V in air conditioned comfort is the plan.

The meteorological report for this week was misinforming. The revised long term forecast indicates no breaks in heat or humidity here. High temps daily will be in the upper 80s to low 90sF. Can't cool the house down enough at night when it doesn't get below 75. Even my desktop computer is gasping.

It's 72* @ 9:30am here in my little corner of PA. Beautiful blue skies right now. The last few days it's been in the 80's and then rain starts around 10PM. We need it.

We lived in Victoria, TX several years ago and I'm glad I don't live there now. Hope and pray Beryl misses much of it. I lived in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1989 when Hurricane Hugo came through. I'll never forget the sound of that wind @ 120MPH.

Yes, I've been thru a few - Alicia my first, and the eye passed two miles from the house. Eerie sight for sure.
Well, not a total surprise but Beryl is going to be closer than first thought, passing west of us - graciously giving us the dirty side of the thing. We expect 6 inches of rain here, and while that is a lot, its not totally unusual.

To complicate things, I have a morning cardio doc appt and that is when the worst is anticipated. Whoopee!

Blue skies, low humidity, 69 F expected high near 83. Good day to get some exterior painting done after I bring in my R/W/B solar light string.

Down the Texas coast today is a strange sight .... a stubborn unorganized "Hurricane" Beryl that has been trying, for hours now, to get itself back into 'a ball' again.

Maybe it will succeed over time, but it is dealing with Saharan dust (dry air as the TV people call it) that keeps invading its space .... and the two have been in a struggle all morning long. .... just looking at the Radar Map for the area is entertaining.

Over Houston, we've been getting rain bands from Beryl with some healthy thunder at times, but it's really nice outside, cool and breezy.
Will see what happens next..

Although it seemed like one heat wave after the other, June 2024 was no where near the warmest June on record in Albany, NY. The monthly mean temp this year was 71.4F. The warmest June on record was set in 1858 at 75F. However the 71.4 F was 3 degrees higher than the 1991-2020 thirty year average. June 2024 also marked the 7th consecutive warmer than average month in the Capital Region.

Right now we are at 25 C it's supposed to go to 26C today, but we have "air quality statement advisory" We are getting the smoke from the fires in Northwest Alberta and BC! Tonight we may have thunderstorms! And from tomorrow on it's spoused to go to 30 C and above and humid.
We had a very cool June and beginning of July and lots of rain and bad storms!
