The rains the other day, flooded low-lying areas, and took out hydro power in some neighbourhoods. We were fortunate it didn't affect us, though we had to take a different route to pick up our daughter earlier today.

Yesterday we had storm clouds over our valley, but about 7km north of our place. There was a cloudburst up that way, and some lightning, with thunder of course. A neighbor with a better view toward that saw lightning hit a conifer tree part-way up a ravine there, and the tree 'candled'. This morning there was a report of a wildfire there. Not terribly large yet, but we hope it doesn't grow much before water bombers can douse it.

Right now it's 27 C and 64% humidity, a light breeze from the NW which brings us all the smoke from the wildfires in our and neighbouring provinces in. Actually the sun is shining but we can't see it, its "smoky" looks like fog but isn't. This morning we had quite fog and smoke!!! It's very muggy! And this kind of weather is going on for a week and seems to continue for at least another week.
We are under "alert Special Air Quality Statement"

It's 3.30am, I'm awake because I fell asleep in front of the tv for an hour at 8.30pm... which means I will be awake for hours yet... right now in this house which has had the windows all wide open today and the blinds closed... the temperature is precisely 28.7 deg c aka 84 deg F... and No AC..
