Middle Tennessee has not technically had its first hard freeze. That means a record has been broke but fear not, we are about to more than break it

We're getting a warm dry wind from the east, locally called the Santa Ana wind because it blows through the Santa Ana canyon. They are often accompanied by brush fires, but none today so far. Temp about 76 F right now.

It was freezing in the house when I got up this morning.. so I had to put the central heating on for an hour to warm the whole house, and prevent any damp... but at the same time, I open the windows a crack....

Still only 26 F here. Went out and brushed snow off some solar light panels.

We got about 3 inches of wet snow yesterday. I went out this morning to shovel a path to the mailbox. When the shovel hit the snow, it just skittered over the surface. Then I had to get the ice chopper out and chop it in chunks before I could shovel. That makes it twice as much work. It's fairly mild, so the snow probably melted a bit then refroze. I hope it all melts during the day. Probably won't get any mail anyway.

My brother lives on the edge of “Lake Affect Snow” in NE Ohio. His driveway is longer than mine and has a hump just before entering the roadway. He won’t let anyone else plow that end of the driveway

its a partly sunny day here in Buffalo temps in the 30's
As usual the so called 'local experts' can't predict how much snow city will get this weekend This always happens with the 1st snowfall,half the time they are wrong.The ski areas which are located south of Buffalo are under a lake effect warning,the bulk of the snow goes there during winter.

We have a hump like that - the snow plow will leave a lot of snow around it since they have to raise the blade up. All that packed leftover snow can then turn into a slush trap for visitors if the temps go up enough. This summer I had some fill put in around the hump to level it out.

I did get mail, but it was a bulk item for the previous owner - something about a cruise. She already told me I could dispose of this type of mail.
