We've had chillier weather the last couple of weeks (until today) and it finally rained. It rained a couple of days last week and a couple this week. Flooding is expected in some areas. Today is very dreary. It's just 2:30 and I had to turn on the light in the house because there's not enough light coming in from outside with the blinds open. We've had periods of hard rain today. The high is 63 (real feel 63) and low is forecast to be 35.
It's been a roller coaster all day. Sunny, then it clouds over and there a snow flurry, then the sun come out again - repeat many times. Cold and blustery, too.
Overcast, but bright and no new precipitation. Winds almost calm.
Woke to 10 F, now risen to 17 F. I went out and cleared overnight snow from the car, driveway, and sidewalk. Not much of it and light and pretty fluffy so just used a small battery leaf blower to puff it away.
Well I think I was "teleported" to the North Pole! We had some strong "snow storms" (strong winds, ice and snow) and the temperature plunged to -34C. And the "windchill" to -40C. This morning it was -33 C and now at 1pm its -27C.
Forecast is saying tomorrow it will get warmer around -7 to -4C and maybe even to the freezing mark (0 or plus)!!! Since November we are constantly in this "roller coaster". Its not nice, the highways and roads are very icy
A sunny but cold day here in Buffalo, temps in the 20's
It drives me nuts when national weather forecasters say' Buffalo got hit with another lake effect snow storm'
This is very misleading, because the areas south of city always get more snow than other areas
As example, on Weds Hamburg, NY- got 28 inches, Orchard Park got 30 inches both areas had a travel ban
In the city where I live we got 2 inches
It was cold as a witches you know what this morning. Real feel 15 degrees. I'm glad I didn't have to go out in it, but my son did at 6:30. Crazy thing is, it's supposed to be 60 on Tuesday.
We're used to it, Hols. It gets a lot colder, deeper into winter.
I admit that the cold and snow was somewhat shocking when I arrived in Toronto, from Vancouver.
From constant rain to frigid temps was a big change. However, I took it all in stride.
We're having a chilly rainy day in the Midwest, but we need the rain, Compared to the forest fires in the West, and the major storms near the Great Lakes and Northeast states, we've been lucky, I just hope we don't have any major snowstorms as Winter arrives.
Currently it is sunny and 49F with a high expected of 68F. The forecast through Christmas Eve is for sunny skies with highs in the mid 70's and lows in the lower 50's.
