4 year old boy - Gus, went missing on his families homestead a month ago

That article is almost 2 weeks old now. Still no answers concerning his disappearance?

Hard to do a word search when we only know the little boy's name is Gus and it happened in Sth Australia.
No, they haven't found him. Just google "Gus Yunta Australia".

@Bretrick when Gus first went missing , the police stood up and said they were not considering he was taken by a wild dog …….as there wasn't any wild dogs in that area ….
Thats not true
.
There is a dingo fence near Yunta …but of course ,there are roads in the areas , dingos can still enter areas not fenced like roads ( altho rare ) , I believe dingo fences are still monitored to,check to holes in or under the fences
~ or other damage

Copied this …******

The area around Yunta, South Australia, is protected from dingoes by the , THE …longest fence in the world,

which keeps wild dogs out of sheep-grazing land. This fence is managed by the and is a key piece of infrastructure for the state's sheep industry. The land south of the fence, where Yunta is located, is considered sheep country, while dingoes roam freely north of the fence.
******

I was born / raised ….not far from Yunta …
We visited the area quite often as kids ,due to 2 of my aunts , husbands working on the railways ,so one lived in Yunta and the other in Mingary

When the first searched for Gus …they only searched a 3 km radius around the homestead station ….i said to hubs at the time “ that’s not far enough“ they should be searching up to double that area …..then after 2 weeks some bright spark came up with …Oh a child who lives in, and is used to a vast ~ desert like conditions/ open area could have possibly traveled up to 10 km by now ..

misstatement ….

Regarding the dog, if they were present and carried the boy away then experienced trackers would have seen the signs.
There were no tracks of any kind found where Gus was last seen. Only one shoe print that was too large to be Gus'. Nothing else.

Wonder if he seen a car on the road that ~ looked like his father’s,….. ? Just maybe …..he seen a car on the road and ran towards it and was picked up ~ by a stranger ~~ (altho it was reported it was rare for anyone to use that road , due it being so isolated )

Gus’s father doesn't live at the property ..only his mother ~ his grandfather who’s now a woman ….his grandmother
and a younger brother

The station is not close to the main highway from ~ Broken Hill to Adelaide .

If that was the case, then the tyre tracks would be very noticeable.

Who knows @Bretrick … I didn’t mean the road (s) ….on the property ..there ….is a public road not far from the house …….called Oak park road , …many cars / trucks would have traveled on that road to get to the homestead, after ….turning off highway 32 at …. Yunta …which isn’t much more than a fuel Stop …town…in the middle of nowhere ….

it’s population is about 50 …

@Bretrick apparently the latest on Gus’s disappearance is he may be in a “ shaft “ no one of was apprently ~ informed about before.

.its been reported they are some 5.5 km and approx 12 km from where he vanished

I’ve said all along the searches didn’t expand out far enough in the first place …..and if there’s no footprints how did he get there ….if that’s where~ he’s found of course

Copied this from Apple News ….

Officers will head to Oak Park Station with tactical gear and specialised equipment to search the mine shafts on Tuesday.

The unfenced and uncovered shafts of interest are located between 5.5km and 12km from the homestead, in an area not yet searched on foot.

Police said they were previously unaware of the mines.

I know it sounds far fetched, but could a very large bird of prey carry him to her nest?
I was born and grew up about 200 km from where this dear little boy went missing

and yes there Are very large birds in that area with wing spans of up to 2.3 mtrs ….
The Wedge-tailed Eagle is Australia's largest living bird of prey and one of the largest eagles in the world.

They are known to take lambs but Gus would be to heavy for them to lift

My questions would be …WHY …didn't the family make the police aware of the mines from the moment he was reported missing almost 2 MONTHS AGO …..it’s sad 😢 for this dear little boy @Della

Wedge-tailed Eagle

He was apparently last seen by his “ grandfather “ who’s now a woman ….but it’s not been reviled if he’d been seen by anyone else before his disappearance , it’s a very much isolated desert area ( the father of Gus dosent live on the property )

Think it’s starting to sound a bit fishy …..why wasn’t searchers …….

informed about the mine shafts on the property before now ….??????

some are apparently up to 100 foot deep @Trish

Search in the mine shafts starts this morning, it’s unlikely he’d be alive if he’s there …it’s been almost 2 months since he went missing …..even police have said it’s very unusual for a 4 year old to wander off from a home

Ive never heard any mention of any extra help that works ~ or lives in the huge property other than the grandparent's and the mother of Gus and a younger child

I can't even imagine the sort of area they are searching. It seems odd that the family did not mention the shafts as a place to search. Did reports indicate how near to the property the shafts are or whether it is feasible that he could have walked to the shafts before the family noticed he was missing and searched for him?

Apparently some of the shafts are approx 5.5 km from the very isolated homestead

that’s one of the first places IMO that should have been searched ( old gold mining area dating back to the 1800’s )

I Was born / raised 200 km from Yunta ……in New South Wales …...and visited that area( Yunta township ) …..

a few times a year ~ when young ~ as my 2 Aunts lived there ( their husbands worked on the railways ) which was the water top up area for the steam trains way back then ….

It is …..New South Wales / South Australia railway line

Yunta is a town of about 60 residents …it’s mainly dry / arid sheep stations ….the area where Gus went missing is approx 40 km from Yunta
@Trish

I’ve lived in South Australia for 50+ years now

He's adorable! The fact that Gus has been missing for a month is indication of foul play IMO.
He’s been missing since Sept 27th …. ,so almost 2 months …..it’s odd ..( I know the area it’s saltbush dry very arid country )
The police keep saying they are not suspicious….. about any family member harming him …..but if they can’t find any trace of hI’m after the search of mine shafts ….maybe they will question the family more ….it seems odd his mother and grandfather ( who is now a self declared woman ) were out seeing to sheep late in the afternoon on a very coolish day / afternoon when it would have been getting ….darkish ….( we’ve had a very coolish spring in South Australia) where the missing boy lived, and it gets very cold in Yunta

Nothing found after the first day of the new search of the abandoned mine shafts. :(

It does seem that the most likely scenario is that Gus wandered off and got hopelessly lost and either died of exposure or suffered an accident. Without any independent evidence to indicate that Gus was even there on the day he disappeared, there will always be a question mark as to what actually happened unless, of course, they find Gus in the mine shafts or somewhere on that land.

It surprises me that in this day and age, they didn't bring in a helicopter with a thermal imaging camera as soon as the boy was declared to be missing. It would have saved a great deal of time, effort, manpower and money if they'd used a thermal camera to search the area. Also, they could have searched a much larger area in a much shorter time.
They did @BJintheUK but they only searched an area 2-3 Km …from the homestead …..I said at the time …:unsure:it’s not far enough …..now some bright spark has said the same thing ….up to 10 km should have been searched from the very start ……and it was only about 2 weeks ago they decided to ~ drain the huge dam on the property to look for Gus due to it having lots of underwater grasses .
I don't know why the parents and grandparents were … not asked / or volunteered the info ….from the get go about the mines and wells in the area…..maybe the searchers didn’t think of it ….being an very isolated desert like conditions ….…maybe they could have done some homework on the area for their own heath and safety as well ??

I know what Yunta area is like and we were warned about the mines …as kids whet we’d visit our aunts who lived there
( our aunts, husbands worked in the railways at Yunta ) in the 1950’s ~ 60’s
