A beautiful but mysterious launch this morning.

I was just at the Space Coast a few months ago. What a place and for anyone that enjoys reading and learning about the sciences that’s the place to go. I spent 6 hours there and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Yes, Musk had another Space X launch. More internet satellites, I would suppose.

Elon Musk was up early this morning.
His 18th launch for the year was today, May 6 at 5:42 a.m. ET, at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
This was the LIVE video this morning of SpaceX Falcon 9 but you have to start the video at the 4:20 minute mark so slide the bar

I have a new plan. I am going sneak onto one Musks rides to the moon and get off with enough supplies that will last a couple years until more folks come. It is my ultimate way of dealing with all the BS in the world today. :)

I've always wanted to see a launch. Airfares to Florida are dirt cheap now, I wouldn't mind flying down to see one. But I heard a scheduled launch can be this Sunday, or delayed to June????
There is a schedule of launches online. You can also purchase tickets to the JFK Space Center online, along with a ticket to the launch site. I recommend doing this before you go. Ticket lines can be long, depending on when you go. If you do go, be sure to take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.

The launch schedule can change, depending on the weather. Scientists think it’s best to launch in dry, weather with clear skies. Temperature and wind can also be a deterrent.

When I flew commercial planes, I much preferred clear skies, so our turbulence on the climb out would be minimal.

Another great post, (sorry I felt the "Well said" button didn't do justice to the mirth created by these two posts, this and the one above :giggle:!)

Great Pictures Pappy, we only see that stuff on TV.

I just thought that Elon Musk could make more Billions
if he turned one of his rockets into a trash collector, the
image below is from NASA in 2021 I think and it shows
the problem.

I fully agree. They really need to do something about it. And I am not sure it is really all that hard, if they put their minds to it. I mean, generally, in space, materials aggregating occurs naturally. I think they could get in there with the physics of that natural process, and tweak a craft accordingly.

I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but being a former pilot for 33 years, space is something that I have always thought about since my first aeronautical class in college. Yesterday, this thread continued to dwell on my mind when I had a flashback of when I was sitting in school and the teacher told us we were in for a special treat that day. It was then that she turned on the TV and we were able to watch Shepard’s launch into space, which was about a month after the Russian launch. That launch had an incredible affect on me. I think almost every boy started dreaming about being shot into space.

When the Challenger exploded on launch, it almost broke my heart. We were watching that launch on TV when the reporter said, “It appears that something has gone wrong.” I felt almost the same way when I watched the replay of the Concorde catching fire.

If you have been or get a chance to go to the Kennedy Space Center, be sure to take a long look at the first space capsule and ask yourself, if you could sit in that thing all crunched up for hours. It takes a person with incredible courage to be an astronaut. Just to suit up and get ready for the launch would have me sweating. It seems that once the rocket has launched and goes into orbit, they are pretty much out of the woods.

Yes, I heard. I heard that Elon Musk just launched Jeff Bezos into permanent orbit with the Sun. :) :) :)

Thanks, Mike. I have posted about this issue before. Yes - Elon Musk space trash pick-up seems like a great idea!

Thank you for your work, for your service! Not an easy job! Not an easy job at all! I am sure you delivered thousands of people safely home! No small thing, that...
