A floating forest in Homebush Bay, Sydney

Makes me feel old. I remember when the whole of Homebush Bay was just mud and mangroves.
That looks the best use a hulk could be put to. Let's hope they leave it alone. Great shots, looks fantastic.

Forwarded to a friend who lives there, in the Newington 'condos'.

It does look good in those photos, doesn't it?

If you read the comments underneath there is much nitpicking about whether it is actually floating or not.
It's not, of course because it is firmly stuck in the mud and the mangroves have probably broken though the bottom with their roots.

But the comments have missed the point. It is a stunning visual.

Yes, figured they had to be feeding off the tidal silt somehow.
Gawd that area was the pits when I grew up in Concord, but then so was Mortlake, even worse.
No one admitted to living there back then, now you can't go house shopping for under a mill for a weatherboard shack. Guess where I'll be visiting when they invent time travel.

Intereresting photos but, who's going to clean it all up when it finally falls apart with rust. It should have been sold for scrap years ago.

We like our old wrecks in OZ.
In the absence of better things to look at the decaying hulks on or near beaches serve as tourist attractions.

You've got much nicer scenery to start with, and more variety too.
