That is a real beauty and I like how you have it sited in your garden. If you ever care to post some wider views around your garden I'd love to see them. If you start a thread for that purpose please @me so I can come see or you are welcome to post them on my own diary thread: Gardening for nature, walks with my dogs and the books I’m reading. Have you started such a thread yourself yet?

Can't recall if I've shared this flower here before but it is worth the risk: Dracunculus vulgaris

Smells just as good as the name implies. Essence of carrion. I think each of my dogs has bit off a center spike once and then left it alone. Some details, starting with the side view on the the cowl which reminds me of a pelican.

Another jolt of frivolity while Rome burns down south. Pulling for you Los Angeles!

This is a Bilbergia, a bromeliad that doesn't form a cup to catch water which can actually be planted in the ground. But with these big colorful flower bracts hanging down it is better to plant them high. These replace the Agapetes I loved but could not satisfy in this location.
