A flower a day ...

I guess this is a town in the sense that property owners near by need a place pick up their mail? Living in a cracker box shaped warehouse myself I find it charming by comparison.
I take more photos of old buildings than flowers mainly due to Australia being a dry country….and in many towns where councils would once plant annual gardens / flowers don’t bother anymore due to cost of water to maintain the gardens.

that same town as the old post office had a old school and Church I took photos as well …

I haven’t got around to looking for a suitable topic to post the photos of structures or buildings on the forum as yet @MarkD

This is a good example….a bit off topic sorry …
Wheat silos in N S W look how dry it is for winter …..it was only taken 3 weeks ago
This is a different town …to where the post office photo was taken …it’s called

No problem here but you might like to start a diary thread for your activities or, if you prefer it more interactive, how about a regular thread called: "What I saw on my trip?" I might have some photos that would fit in such a thread.

I'll keep an eye out for that Salvia. Interesting look. I grow several and have yet to get a good photo of a cultivar called Black and Bloom. I like the nearly black calyxes, rich purple/blue flowers and the felted dark green leaves. Here is a photo from the internet.

I'm Scottish, The thistle is our National flower..... but I have never seen Thistles as tall as these ....they must have been 6 feet tall.. and the flowers were at least 6 or 8 inches across

Here’s a thistle seen on a walk, not as nice as the ones you shared. But there is a little added interest thanks to Ms Bug, the ladybug.

She mustn’t grumble - just whistle”

I believe this is a Common Blue Violet (Viola sororia) wildflower. It's tiny! My common, little Samsung DV150F PS did a great job capturing it, I think. See how a grass blade has pierced the petal? I wonder what came first, the petal or the blade?

Very showy! Why is it called a walking Iris?

Where it comes from in Brazil it can spread itself around by flopping over after a flower stalk is through and where the flowers were little rootlets will form and grow into a new plant. In that way it walks itself around. I've also taken some of these and rooted them and potted them up. In fact I believe all the ones in this pot were all propagated that way.

Oriental Lilly with a dragon fly

Pretty lily color and I love dragonflies. When I worked in the floral dept of a grocery store, I was instructed to pinch off all of the stamens on the lilies. I moaned and lamented that, saying that the stamens are one of the most beautiful parts of the lilies. My supervisor said that customers complained so much that the stamens shed easily and got over everything that management adopted the practice. 😔 It was easy to pinch off the whole clump with gloves on. 😔
