A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we went on a two kilometre walk. It wasn’t an easy walk due to the snow. It was -3 degrees Celsius. IMG_7479.jpeg
Part of the path , we don’t normally go on , had car tire tracks, making it easier to follow. IMG_7478.jpeg
Snow shoe tracks could be detected on the main trail. I’m starting to consider getting snowshoes.

Today is a sunny day, warm day in comparison to what it’s normally been like.
It was -2 . The path was much easier to walk on today. The snow was really packed down from other hikers.

The roads were a bit slippery this morning / the school buses were running late.

Have you ever made a calendar with your photos?
I just love the third one for example.
Thank you! I’ve thought about making a calendar. I’d have a hard time choosing which pictures to pick. Lol

When we went to visit the in-laws a few weeks back I noticed they had a calendar made from all their favourite photos and it was lovely.

Today is 5 degrees so all the snow is melting. It was difficult finding a place to walk the dogs. We took them to the channel .
The ice , on top of the water , was divided into locks which look like states on a US map.

Here’s some lobster traps left .

The snow was hard to walk through. It’s great packing snow for making snowballs. We got somewhat childish and had a snowball fight. Lol 😂

Have a wonderful day.

Today we walked our backyard. I should have taken more pictures but I was concentrating on walking on the trail made by the ATV instead. It’s so pretty up there. It was only a 20 minute walk so I’ll try and do a double walk today. There’s lots of deer and fox tracks. Probably coyote tracks too.

Have a great day folks.

Today we went on an extended walk that we did yesterday. It was -12, feels like-21 . It got really cold when the wind gusts came. I didn’t take any pictures today. Not only cause it was really cold but because I forgot my glasses 🤓 today. Have a lovely day.

Today we walked the ATV trail that’s beside the river. It wasn’t as cold today as it was yesterday. It was -7.

The river was frozen on top but still flowing underneath. You couldn’t hear it though.

The trail was groomed by the atv’ers so made for nice walking.

Have a great day everyone.

Today we walked in the enclosed , sheltered forest - 3 kilometres. We usually let our dogs roam free when there is nobody and when others come by we quickly leash them. Today a lady came by with a fairly large dog so we quickly leashed our dogs and stepped off the path. The lady assured us that her dog would only bark but wouldn’t bite but as soon as those words were out of her mouth her dog lunged at ours and tried to bite one of ours. Luckily I pulled my dog away quickly. She didn’t seem to have control of her dog. Anyway, both managed to prevent an attack.
We left early today due to severe weather conditions/ warnings.

Have a lovely day!

Today’s weather was much better so we went for a walk. It was -10 but not nearly as windy.
We met 5 people - 2 couples and a single woman , all with dogs. Luckily they all got along well.

This is a photo from the car on the way to our walk.

This is the path we went on IMG_7572.jpeg
The paths all had tree branches and pine cones from the wind the last few days.

It is beautiful but at those temperature my true nature comes through and the badger hibernates.
Thats Celsius temperatures. Without the wind it wasn’t that bad today. I was my thinner winter coat today. If I wore my thinker winter coat I would have been too warm.

Today it’s -10, feels like -24. The wind gusts are up to 66 kilometres an hour. We walked the paths at the back of our house. The wind blows the snow everywhere. By the time we made our walk back around, our tracks were covered with snow and could not be seen. My husband took the atv to make tracks for us to walk in.

Patty, your pics with the snow and conifers look so familiar. They could be scenes from around here.🖐️

We rarely get those strong wind gusts, though.

You've got a good thread going.🙂
Thank you JBR. The last pictures are from our backyard. Our backyard is one kilometre long.
We use it to get all our firewood during the 4 seasons. In early spring we use in to get maple sap and process it to maple syrup.
Today we walked around our backyard again. I took photos of some places we store wood to let it dry out for the season.

Yesterday we walked around our property but today we drove to our favourite walking spot. It was only -2 so much warmer than it had been. The roads were clear and safe for driving. When we got there, there were quite a few cars. We saw 4 groups of people.
Dogs are supposed to be leashed. We don’t leash our dogs until we see other people. The moment we see others, our dogs are immediately leashed. We wish others would do the same. Two groups with other dogs didn’t leash their dogs when we saw them. Dogs aren’t always predicable and people should keep this in mind.

These look like bunny tracks.

On the way to the trails we saw a man fishing for smelt.

Today and yesterday we walked on our path behind our house. The snow has a crusted top since we had freezing rain after it snowed making it fairly easy to walk on top of the snow. It’s -1 again. Today is also bright and sunny. No worries about meeting aggressive dogs.

We might have about 4 - 5 inches of snow.

Here’s the level of snow where we used to live which is in the middle of a snow belt. Of course this is the level after it’s been shovelled.

Today we went for an extra special walk. We walked 5 kilometres beside the ocean. It was cloudy and 2 degrees when we started and went up to 5 degrees and the sun came out on the way back. It’s now 8 degrees.

Today we went for our usual 4 kilometre walk.
It wasn’t busy today. We only saw three people on the trail today, and that was from a distance.

It was only 1 degree today while we were walking.

Some recent snow on an evergreen tree.
