A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we walked on an ATV trail. We want to check out as many trails as we can for when we get our e-bikes and trails ready. We will have to modify our bike to make pulling a dog trailer doable.

Today it looked like it was going to rain all day but it didn’t. It pored down last night though.

You’ve been having some good ones. We went back to Fort Funston today and to Redwood regional park yesterday. Here are some photos from that San Francisco beach.

This is a better shot of where we go down the first level below the cliffs where the hang gliders take off.

Today I saw these naked ladies coming up long before my own at home.

Continuing South along that level we get to this approach the ramp the pack horses take to bring people to the beach.

From here we go North along the beach, past the point where the gliders take off to the North path up from the beach where we passed a dead whale.

I neglected to take any pictures of Ember who did the beach route with me or of Lia with her new rolling walker, but I did take some pictures yesterday of Lia at Redwood park in case I haven't already shared those.

Oh Lia got her roller walker. Good for her. She looks really comfortable using it. Does it roll well in the sand too? I’m so happy for her.

The Naked Ladies I’m certain are these pink flowers(?). LOL! Sorry. I couldn’t resist. 😂

A dead wale on the beach. Ewwww. That’s not something I’ve ever seen except now. How long will that take to decompose?

Gliding is something I’ve always wanted to do. The closest I’ve come to it is parasailing.

Where is your dog?

She said it bogged down some in deeper sand but rolls well on lawn of mulch covered ground.

It was a young humpback, not the usual local gray whale. I read somewhere that people had taken samples for study but they'd speculated it was a victim of orcas.

She was with me on the walk but somehow I never got her picture. Probably because I didn't want to make Lia wait too long. I'd gotten as far as the whale when she arrived at the bench where we were planning to meet.

You’d never get away with leaving without her. 😜 I don’t go anywhere without our dogs. If the dogs can’t go, I don’t go. They are super spoiled but that’s ‘our’ prerogative.

Today was a bit warm so we took the cool shaded, forest trail. It’s a nicely manicured trail…..IMG_5489.jpeg
…. with lovely reddish, orange berries for ground cover. My husband says that his father used to call them ‘cracker jacks.’

It was a short, cool walk that took about 40 minutes.

Did you walk early in the day to avoid the heat or was the shade of the trees enough? Not sure where we'll walk today, maybe go up to the Blake Garden again for a leashed walk in picturesque setting.

Got up extra early today to finally get my audiology exam from Kaiser so I can get hearing aides through them. I had been scheduled for Friday but owing to Lia needing to go to Stanford that day for treatment I got it changed to 7:15 this morning. It got cancelled without notifying me so I've got a new appointment Wednesday at 10 a.m.

We got up early so we could mow the front law before it got too hot which was why we chose this path today. It’s a path that’s completely shaded plus it has cold streams running through it. The path dives deep into the terrain for the ultimate in coolness.

The plant with the red berries is special but I also like the low growing ferns scattered around them. Thanks for showing me new (to me) plants. I’m convinced I shall always be surprised by another I’ve never seen, no matter how many I do see.

Our dogs aren’t camera shy. We have thousands of pictures of them. I just don’t show them off on the site. There have only been in few times that I’ve shown pictures of myself. I like to stay incognito on the site.

Oh I love the ferns. I mentioned the ferns another day. The ground covers change depending on the seasons. There are white flowered ground covers in the spring time.
 
We took a little walk along the dried up creek at the bottom of Redwood Regional Park today along Bridle trail to where it joins with Stream trail. Dropped Lia off at the Salmon ladder then parked and caught up to her and we walked to the end of the trail where I got the care and picker her up. A couple of pictures of redwood trees along Bridle trail.

Then one of Lia followed by one of Ember in front of an inscription on a boulder near some picnic tables. Not sure who the Telephone Exporers were or when this rock got its inscription.

Those redwood trees sure are beautiful.
Lia looks very comfortable using her walker. Now she has a place to put her sweater or wind jacket. Thats great that you can go for longer walks and meet up with her.

The last couple of days, I haven’t gone for a walk. For some reason I haven’t been up to it. Soon we will get our new, smaller electric bike and go biking with the dogs. We bought our dogs a doggy trailer so they can come with us.

It carries up to 90 pounds which is great cause our dogs weigh about 40 pounds together. What I like about this one is that it’s got windows on all four sides. My husband will do most of the pulling them. We just hope they like it. I’ll add my bike ride journeys here. No sense making a new thread for bike rides.

Looks like it might be roomy enough for two. Do you think they can both ride in one?

Edited to add this article about a hike I just learned about. No dogs allowed so normally I'd just forget it but to see this monolith and an 1800 year old redwood tree? I might just need my doggy sitter.

YES. They can BOTH ride in one. We were going to get two but thought they’d be more comfortable in one. This trailer is 20 inches tail and our biggest dog is 18 1/2 inches tall sitting down. It will pull a much bigger dog weighing 90 pounds which is why we decided on it. If it will be safe enough to pull a 90 pound dog then it’s safe enough to pull our medium sized dog and pint sized one. We had to purchase a special connector to fasten it to our e-bikes.

I’ll have one on my bike also. I gave my ebike to my husband cause it’s too bike for me. Even though we are the same height, my legs are 2 inches shorter than his so I got a smaller ebike. It’s a foldable model that is good enough for a 300 pound 6 ‘4” man or woman. I’m only 5’ 7” about 150 pounds. I can pull them while giving him a break. lol! I think it will be fun. We’ve found a straight flat trail that doesn’t really have any hills so is perfect for our e-bikes. I’ll take pictures when we get the new e bike and trailer.
