A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Our bike rack came in extra early so my husband put it today and we went biking today with our dogs.

Last night I found some foam and cut a piece to put into their bike trailer to make it more comfy. Yes they are spoiled. I wasn’t expecting them to get used to it as quickly as they did. We got some really cute pictures to send to my in-laws.

Today we went to the Atlantic Coastal Trail and biked 32 kilometres.
We stopped half way at a picnic table overlooking the ocean and had our lunch we brought with us. The view was amazing.

The trail truly was fabulous. The next place we stopped at had a big map along with more picnic tables. It even had an entrance way down to the beach. I took a picture of 2 lobster boats.

A bit further up we spotted a bald eagle catching its dinner. It first caught the fish. Not a little fish either. It went from rock to rock with this fish in its claws. I managed to get some good photos of it.

Note: since I can only add 5 pictures per post I will add these to the next post.

There are a few horse ranches along this trail so I took a picture of one. There were a few horse but I just took this picture of one.

On the way back we stopped at a nice lookout spot and started a conversion with a nice older gentleman. Turns out he’s from Ontario and is here for a wedding. He looked a lot like Robin Williams. When I told him that he seemed to really like it.

This picnic area had picnic tables as well as a hammock. It was a nice area to stop and rest.

Not far from there I wiped out. Somehow I managed to get off the trail and fell off my bike. Luckily I had a on a full head helmet cause my head bounced off the trail. I skinned my left arm and left knee and somehow managed to hurt my lower left rib. My husband kept asking if I think I broke it but I’ve had broken ribs before and know what that feels like. It’s just a bruised rib. My bike has a few scratches on it so I’ll consider it broken in. ( no pictures ) lol
Great photos. Sorry to hear about your "off road adventure ". Take it easy, and rest up a bit. JIMB.

The water looks great for swimming.
the water is crystal clear , very quiet this time of the year but come Christmas school holidays it’s busy .
Some swim / splash in the shallow water but we get shark sightings in summer.
Most of our walks are down along the sand areas one way and along the cliff tops paths walking home .
@PeppermintPatty
We was out walking one day ( last November ) we’d walked down those steps shown in photos (there is a a small carpark at top of those steps) …..got about 1/2 km from steps and it started raining ….we looked at each other and said think we should turn around and head home …..by the time we got back to the steps they were like a waterfall but we had no other option than to walk up the steps …we were soaked to the skin to by this time ….
and still had a further 5 min walk back to home

We’ve never had any shark sightings where we live. It’s water from the Atlantic Ocean but in the form of a lake. I’m more worried about getting stung by a jelly fish.

That’s a lot of water at one time. I keep forgetting you’re from Australia. Swimming outside at Christmas isn’t something I’m accustomed to. Once while in Texas near the Christmas holidays I swam in an indoor / outdoor heated swimming pool. It was surreal.

No jelly fish here it’s to cold in Southern Aust , we are also the dryest state in Aust in regards to rainfall

We are just about into Spring time here after a very cold winter .

We live in a cereal growing area where farmers grow the best hardest wheat in Aust for making pasta/ bread
Ya never know your bread could well be , aussie grown wheat :):) @PeppermintPatty
grain is shipped from a town an hour away to overseas Countries

Luckily my husband was pulling the dogs. I’ve broken both sides of my collar bone on bike rides. Thanks Jim. Much appreciated. They ARE precious cargo for sure.

He’s carrying quite a large fish plus fending off 2 brave seagulls.

These are great. I've never seen bald eagles near where I live. I've been a bit distracted but it is good to get a 'breath of fresh air' here in this thread. We've still been walking every day, mostly just to the dog park but today we went to the big old Blake Garden on the hill. Ember doesn't get to run around but she is easy on leash so no problem. Tomorrow we're heading to the beach and she'll get all she can handle.

Being Australia I was going to ask how many agents of death do you see here? Besides sharks your salties, box jellies and sea snakes would worry me. Beautiful country, wildlife and plants nonetheless.
I live a cold part of Aussie land ( South Aust ) we don’t have the creepy crawlies here ..they have in warmer parts of Aust such as Queensland , however we have some of the worlds deadliest snakes in SA but we’ve never seen one however my neighbour has seen a few in her front yard

New South Wales takes the cake …for dangerous spiders being the Funnel web

Queensland and Parts of New south Wales ….is very tropical so they have the largest snakes / spiders / jelly fish / sharks.
We visited the top part of QLD way back in 2005 where we did a boat tour of a huge salt water area ( QLD gets lots of rain ) that area was known for having sharks and crocodiles in the same water

Doesn't sound dull at all.

We use Robinhood flour. I’m not sure where it’s grown but it seems easy to digest for both of us. It kneeds well and rises perfectly. Just looked at the package. Have you ever heard of the prairie provinces?

Horizon Milling owns and operates the Canadian mills in Saskatoon, Montreal and Burlington that manufacture Robin Hood branded products.

Robinhood flour is grown and milled in Canada. Yayyyy Canada. 🇨🇦

Nice pictures. The last little while we’ve been walking our dogs out back or on the mountain roads overlooking the ocean lake.

Last night my rib really hurt so I took one of my husbands anti inflammatories and with it a stomach pill to help protect my stomach lining. This morning I’m feeling much better.
I’ll be back on my bike in no time. I’m really glad I purchased a good full coverage helmet. Thanks for acknowledging my accident @jimintoronto.
Today I’m staying home.

You are welcome Patty. I will point out to others reading this thread that...A properly fitted bicycle helmet should only be 2 fingers widith above your eye brows, to adequately protect your head. I see way too many adults who wear their bike helmets perched on the back of their head, leaving their forehead unprotected. Typically when a person falls off a bike, they are falling forwards, not backwards. That forward motion usually results in injuries to the front of the body or front of the head.

If you are the Grand Mother or Grand Father of children who ride a bike, make sure their helmet is the right size for their head, and that they are taught the proper way to wear it, low on the forehead just above the eyes, not on the back of their head. JIM.

Oddly enough I was going to purchase the same type of helmet my husband has cause I thought it fit better on his head but after falling off my bike, I now realize that my bike helmet is perfect for me. Without my helmet, I would have been knocked out cold. My helmet is a full coverage helmet and I’m impressed with it.

Most people think it will never happen to them but it sure can.

I notice Lia has her hand in front of her face. Does she not like having her photo taken?
She looks good in all her photos. I’m the same. I hate when my husband takes pictures of me.

Look at Ember sitting on that shelf off the cliff. Did you put her up there or did she find that ledge herself?

We have those orange mushrooms too. They are edible.

Lia id giving her the down hand sign so she’ll be still. Ember gets very excited for any attention from her mommy.

I called Ember up on that rock for the picture. I walk on a 4 foot lead so she doesn’t get much choice where off leash isn’t available.

I hadn’t heard you fell off your bike. So sorry and I hope you have no lasting issues! Since I haven’t been riding bikes for decades I figure I’m better off not starting now.

Oh right, Ember, had to stay on her lead.
I forgot that part. The signal was for the dog.
Doh! lol!

Yes near the end of our bike ride I wiped out and fell off my bike. Luckily I didn’t hurt myself badly. I need to learn how to handle my bike better. My tailbone was getting sore at the end so I was using the throddle more and came to a section where I slid off the path. While getting back on the path , I lost control. I also generally ride behind my husband and the dogs but I was in front of him this time. I think I became a lazy rider.
I’m not really sure what happened. I’ll have to think over what I did wrong and make sure to not do that again. It’s been years since I’ve been on a bike and these are e bikes. They are much heavier and faster than regular ones. It’s taking me a while to get used to it.
I’ll ride again in a few days.

I missed where you had a recent bike accident PP, so sorry! I saw your mention of broken collar bones, but surely those were in the past.

I hope you heal quickly!

Edit to add:, I just read about your fall. I had spoken too soon. Be careful!

No worries. I mentioned it in the post before the eagle pictures. I joked around about it so maybe people thought I made it up. It happened the last 2,kilometres of our 32 kilometre bike read. I should have stayed behind my husband but I didn’t. I’m actually ok. Just scraped my elbow, knee, bashed my head and hurt my elbow. My rib really hurt last night but is much better today.
Luckily I heal quickly. I’m taking prescription strength anti inflammatory pills.
They are my husbands.
Thanks for asking. 🤗

Beautiful photos, thanks for posting them. The eagle is wonderful! Sad to hear about your bike accident, good that you're on the mend and have some strong inflammation medicine.
