A philosophical Christmas query : What does God want from us?

Let kindness be the expression of your spiritual convictions.
Love your neighbors.....that's all living beings, and love yourself too....with self respect and self care.
Serve the lord by being of service somehow to this world we're all living in.
Sounds like Dr Fauci is on the same page as your lord.

But what if these vaccinations are God’s gift to us? How can we know with certainty? Might he not be offended if we don’t accept his gift? And Uncle Sam, he’s always seemed to want to do what’s right. As for Satan, I haven’t seen nor heard much about how he feels about this pandemic stuff, so far. But he might be working in mysterious ways. Such a sticky wicket it is!
Well, if God is handing out gifts, I’d like some money or a trip to Disney World. Whichever he/she thinks is best. 😊

God isn’t all that great with money, it seems. His spokespeople are always asking for money on his behalf so I doubt that he has any to spare. And why would you settle for Disney World when god offers you heaven? Yeah, me too, Disney World sounds like loads more fun! And I can see what it actually looks like without having to die first.👍😉

I don’t know that those other places exist. But I’ve visited Disney World before. It wasn’t heaven, or what I’ve heard heaven described as being. But it didn’t seem much like hell either, from what I’ve been told about hell. But they did have cute souvenirs for purchase. I’d rather wear Mickey Mouse ears for eternity, I guess, than horns or a halo. But that’s just my feeling.

What does God want from us? We're like animals to Him. Why is He so hard on us humans? How do you know if you please Him? Or are you just pleasing yourself and considering that pleasing God because you have such a good life? What is the measure of pleasing God.?... 🤔
He wants us to
choose good over evil,
to choose to believe in Him,
choose to love Him,
choose to obey Him,
choose to lean on Him and trust Him,
to choose to admit that we are not perfect and therefore
in need a Savior to save us from any wrong choices we have made.

He's watching all of us. The natural consequences from our wrong choices is polishing us in preparation for meeting Him in the bigger picture ahead. He wants us to choose to be ready.

In short, God wants our heart. Jesus summed it up in two commandments in Matthew 22:
"'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Our retired pastor, whom I greatly respect, summed it up with these lines from a well known hymn: "Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus . . ." Obedience follows trust (faith) in Jesus, as the Son of God, the Christ, the Messiah.

Some have altered this to say you must follow many rules and laws to show your "goodness" to others around you in lieu of a trusting and saving faith. This sometimes amounts to legalism, which manifests itself in pride. Yet, the scriptures clearly state "Be holy, as I am holy", yet as sinners (Romans 3:23 states ALL have sinned), we can not achieve holiness on our own. The first required step in arriving at that goal of a pursuit of holiness is a new heart. As Jesus said in John 3:7, "You must be born again".

The Lord's Prayer also sheds light on what God wants from us. The opening phrase "Hallowed be thy name" means we are to worship and praise God as the Sovereign and all-powerful creator, of which "Thy will be done". We are to look to God for provision and in times of need as stated with "Give us our day our daily bread". We are to go to the father in confession of our sins "Forgive us our trespasses" as often as needed and we are to "Forgive those that trespass against us". We are to seek God's help to keep us from sin as stated "Lead us not into temptation" and "Deliver us from evil".

That sounds like Humanism, but we just don't believe in mythical beings.
