Years ago I heard this but because my hormones were in charge it made no sense. Now, older somewhat wiser, I understand it. "The older the violin the sweeter the sound"......
Yes, of course; that too. An enduring love and unselfish devotion. The best kind of marriage.
Wish I had her back. It's been 12 years since she left in a cloud of morphine.
You can have your fine old wines (metaphor), give me back my adolescence if we're just talking about libido.
I think my definition goes more like the mate who takes the trouble to prepare that dinner whether tired or not, who forgives when you screw up, who sees your belly but doesn't complain, who ignores the wrinkles and grey hair and who loves you all the same. To me that is now the sound of a sweet violin!

Woman chiming in who knows the feeling. We've made sweet music together for over forty years now, and the tune becomes more mellow and pure as it plays through our old bodies and souls. We see each other as we were when we were young, and age wasn't upon us yet. We put each other first, never harshly judge and the love runs deep. Nothing can match the sound of that sweet violin, only those who experience it can truly understand.

Hmmm, we must differentiate between love and lust...![]()
I am doing well considering all I ever wanted to do was get married and have kids, a real family, which I didn't come from, but to be honest, I didn't know the first thing about being a wife, I couldn't even cook. I relied to heavy on the love of my life, when I was 21. I didn't have job skills, and I was too needy, my health wasn't super good, and I think we got it a spat over some stupid thing, and the only thing I knew to do was run away. He was gentle, and a good man, I was so in love. But he didn't want me to come back at first, then when he did, I had already messed up getting into the bar scene. He is better off, he found a good wife, and had children. I have to be ok and accepting of my life, but I love seeing happy, married couples. denise
I think they succeed because they took their vows serious, and never gave up. I know folks just continue to grow closer if they never give up:love_heart:
That's a very sad story Denise. It takes a lot of character to reveal such an intimate picture of your past. Thank you.
