A Woman Will Walk On The Moon On The Next Mission

From what I am reading a woman will set foot on the moon on the next trip. What if anything, should the woman leave on the Moon surface or should anything signifying the difference be an issue?

Why not? I read recently the top two positions in the space program
We're also held by women. 'I say, way to go'.

I think that we should be consistent and leave something very similar to the Pioneer plaque that was attached to Pioneer 10 and 11 in the 1970s.

My mind goes several places with that question, so I'll leave it be.

But why would a woman be interested in the moon?
What'd she say when she got there?...'One small step for wimin, after that giant leap'`?

I say why not Ophelia? It's a pretty cool planet, and has never been stepped on or leapt over before

Women have supported the space programs in many very important positions since the 60's, why not a woman on the moon?

If you have not seen it, I suggest the movie Hidden Figures. It is about the African American women who worked for NASA in the 60's as mathematicians. I remember they were called "the computers" for some reason. I do remember a part in the movie where they touched on the women having to go to a different building to use the restroom as there was not a "black" one in their building.

Great movie.

Computer was how mathematicians were designated back then. I had an uncle who was a computer during WWII. In civilian life he worked for the Lands Department.

dont u think we have more than enough to worry about on our own planet ' doesnt matter what we hope to achieve in the future
some country will set out to destroy it --sad but true !

We stepped on the moon fifty years ago! Think about that. The technology available then was crude beyond belief when compared to what we have now. Your smart phone is more powerful than many/any of the computers back then.

So, what did we learn by spending the money we did to walk on the moon? Was it, ultimately, simply a feel good achievement that stuck it to Russia? Was it worth it? Should we do it, again?

I find it tough to justify the time and expense. If our world was in great shape, if all diseases were conquered, if we lived peacefully, together, if our aging infrastructure wasn't threatening to fall around us, then, yeah, ok, let's have another meaningless, feel good moon walk.

As it stands, I am sure that the money could be much better spent!

We go to the moon because several countries will in the future use it as a launching base to explore space saving billions of dollars. Earth's gravity is the single worst thing for space exploration. Do not hold "cost" against the space program because if we were ever told the truth about the percentage of government waste spending we would revolt. We never should have waited so many decades to return but we had to throw billions in to the Viet Nam War instead.

The first human on the moon spoke for all of us. I don't think the first woman needs to express her sex on the surface of the moon. It should be noted that she is the first woman on the moon, but I doubt that we need statues and plaques.
