LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Ben Affleck was banned from playing blackjack at a Las Vegas casino because he was "too good," a source close to the Oscar-winner said on Friday.
Affleck, 41, was stopped earlier this week by security guards at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas while playing blackjack because "you are too good," the source said. He was told he could play other games at the casino.

If being good means he "counts cards" then yes, that has been going on since I dealt 21 in the 70s. The casino's don't exist because people win money, they exist because the "house" always wins due to the odds. Although today, using the "shoe" which every casino I know of uses "shoes" for multi-decks of cards, I don't know how anyone could "count cards". If he was just lucky, then they could still claim "somehow" he was counting though I suppose. It stinks, and so do casino's and the whole gambling thing. People say it's fun, and they only lose X amount of money, but to me it's like cigarettes, alcohol, pot, and oh yeah "recreational" drugs. :fun:

Yeah, I thought Vegas used at least 5 and maybe even 8 decks in a shoe - that pretty much kills counting unless you're Rainman.

I think this is yet another of those stories where we haven't gotten the whole truth ... he might have just been behaving like a typical Hollywood jerk.
